Killed the battery in my car. I got this for a weed dui so I don’t really know what good it’s doing for me. Just taking my money and annoying me to my wits end. Can’t even take my break at work in peace anymore because you’re not supposed to eat before using this cheap device as that can cause a false positive. Terrible company that has overseas representatives that I’m sure get paid pennies on the dollar. Makes me wonder where all my money is even going to? Wouldn’t wish this device on my worst enemy

A few things to know. First, unit will drain your battery over a few days. Have to start daily to charge. Second is frequency of test requirements, 3 to 4 times first hour depending on state. Lastly, unit itself is fickle. May take multiple times to “learn” the pattern. Worse on cold days.
On a positive note good customer service people. Helped me out.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
