- AMAlana MacMar 23, 20215.0Me and the boyfriend had to make an unscheduled stop at this location on a super wet and rainy day because our windshield wiper randomly decided to pop off while driving down the road. 🌧️ Why do they make the instructions for installing the wipers so confusing? Maybe it was the frustration combined with the icy rain and cold temps, but neither of us could figure these things out. We took turns for like 30 minutes, jumping out into the rain, attempting to attach the wiper, and giving up because our fingers would get too cold. Finally he did the smart thing and went into the store and asked the clerk for assistance. WHICH THEY DO FOR FREE. Took the guy 5 seconds. We shared a quick laugh about it before he ran back inside.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
