I'm expecting quick service with minimal upselling. Instead, the young lady tried to use fear to get my wife to buy something that wasn't needed. Same with me when I went on a different occasion. I asked first, before anything, if they could do it in about 20 minutes, and the young lady replied, "probably". All my past experiences were very quick, so I figured it should be around that time. The young lady tried to upsell me fuel/engine additives because my car was "burning oil". I used to build cars as a hobby, but now I've got too much going on, hence why I use JL. I know why it was low on oil and its not because of the engine. Then, after 40 minutes, so that "probably" when I arrived should have been a "no", the young lady told me my battery was dead and the car wouldn't start. The battery was fine when I drove in; it was fine when I checked it earlier in the week. But, I did notice that my tail lights were on during the oil change, but I assumed they were getting information or moving the car. Well, seems like they just left the electronics on for the 40 minutes they were changing the oil. The young lady offered no solution other than saying "we have seen this several times". When I spoke to the facial-haired gentlemen, he tested the battery in front of me but then immediately said that he could jump it. Fantastic, a solution. I drove my car to my destination, about 30 minutes, was there for about 8 hours, and the car started up just fine when I left. I don't mind things going wrong, I won't be happy about them but I understand mistakes happen, but this was more about deflecting blame, blaming the customer, and not know the business's operations. This is willfully doing things that aren't ethical. I wonder how many other people have been swindled by strong-arm upselling and deflecting blame away from their mistakes or incompetence. Looks like I'll be changing my own oil again.
