I had already told him the battery was five years old and the car had been sitting for a year, and I asked him to please just sell me a battery. But no — the guy kept saying it might not be the battery. Apparently, this self-proclaimed mechanic said it could be the key fob. Once again, I asked him if he could just sell me the battery, and he replied, “Okay, boss man, it’s not the battery,” giving me attitude. Why the hell do I have to argue with an employee just to buy a damn battery? I came in to purchase a battery, not to get a horrible diagnosis. I installed the new battery, and the car started right up. Horrible customer service.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
