She kept repeating, "Well, I'm sorry your car only takes synthetic oil." She gave me a discount, but I'm never going back to any jiffy lube. The entire thing feels like they're overcharging.
- JKJason KatsuleasFeb 7, 20261.0A few months back in October, I brought in a vehicle I had just purchased (a front-wheel drive GMC Terrain) for an oil change. I let the staff there know I had just purchased it. A female employee told me she’d take care of me and give the vehicle a good inspection. While my vehicle was being serviced, she pulled the brand new air filter out and recommended to me it be changed for $120. She also told me my transfer case needed flushed for $140… on my front-wheel drive vehicle (for those that don’t know, only all-wheel drive or 4WD vehicles have transfer cases). Lastly, she told me I had a heat shield that was rattling. When I went to an exhaust shop, they told me the exhaust was perfectly fine, it was actually the timing chain inside the motor that needed replaced. MUCH bigger job than an heat shield. Like she didn’t even look. Luckily, I’m not naive enough to fall for the scam of paying extra money to replace things that are brand new or simply just don’t exist. This experience blew my mind!
