  Almost trusted this place to do major work on my SUV, but I'm thankful for trusting my gut to get a second opinion. Dobb's quoted me on work estimated to be $4300. The list was extensive, and I trusted it because it seemed to be a thorough check. Two major fixes involving an oil and coolant leak and several other minor fixes such as oil filter change, a $300 battery, etc. They basically find a problem and add on replacing that entire assembly plus adding in other things to the list that are minor and may not require immediate or any attention at all. As mentally exhausted as I was seeing this quote, I decided to take my car to a private owned auto shop. I didn't tell them anything as far as the Dobb's visit or issues with the car. I started from the beginning and informed them I suspected a leak with my car and ask if they could do a fluid check and see if any components were leaking. The same 2 major problems Dobb's found, they found also. They estimated me for the entire fix of those 2 issues to be $1500!! That includes their labor fees. Dobb's labor for the job was a bit over $2000. The other shop's labor is $700. You be the judge. The amount of stress I was under preparing to fork over $4300 was excrutiating, but I decided to put in the little energy I had left try another place that was local, privately owned but had excellent reviews. Glad I did! I get that people trust Dobb's due to the name and company backing, etc. but the price gouging is unbelievably disgusting and INSANE! I can't imagine how many people just get in a bind paying these quotes to them as opposed to shopping around. If you can bide your time and research other places, please do! Nobody wants to deal with car issues. I understand that. There's nothing more taxing on tbe mind than stressing about car failure, but going in serious debt is not necessary either and I feel bad for people that get pulled in to places like thisbas if it's theur last resort. You can get quality word done to your car and not have to stress about being completely broke. SHOP AROUND, PEOPLE! It's worth it to do so.
