We brought our truck in for a front end/bumper fix after having been sprayed by rocks on a country road. The entire front end was covered in paint chips and a trim piece was broken. We brought the truck in and was told it would be done in 2 weeks.
In 2 weeks we called to see how it was going and to see when we could pick it up, only to find out it wasn't even touched yet. Ok, no problem. We weren't pleased, but understood the issue.
Fast forward 4 weeks later (6 weeks total) we were told it would be another couple weeks due to them not having the windshield yet. This was upsetting and very inconvenient for us, so we told them to forget about the windshield and just let us take our truck. They agreed and we went to get our truck. First thing we noticed was the trim piece was still broken. Then we noticed dirt in the paint job. When we pointed these 2 things out to the GM, Larrall Eatman, he immediately got defensive and tried to tell us the work order was for chips in the paint and that our insurance probably wasn't covering the trim piece. This was not true. We later discovered the trim piece had been there for the entire 6 weeks. It was just over looked. He also said the dirt in the paint was paint flecks. Also not true, you could feel the dirt when you rubbed your hand across it.
Mr. Eatman became loud when I called my insurance agent. I wanted to make sure we could take our truck without any issues with the insurance paying, since we were taking our truck without all the work being done yet. I didn't know, so was just covering my bases. Once I hung up with my insurance agent he proceeded to raise his voice at me saying I didn't need to call them (my agent) and that he was a man of his word. Then at the direction of my agent to get it in writing that the work would be finished, he loudly stated he would not give us anything in writing. He was very unprofessional and his communication skills with a customer was terrible to say the least.
Luckily when we returned for the work to be finished, the Estimator, Matt Weaver, was there and made everything right. He was very professional, apologetic and kind to us. Unlike the GM who likely would have given us cause to leave a terrible review.
The shop guys, Mr. Weaver and the receptionist are great and apologized to us multiple times. We realize things happen and they did make it right. This shop is a good place to take your vehicle, just avoid having any dealings with the GM and everything should be fine. If it hadn't been for Mr. Weaver, this review would have been very different to say the least.

Update: The new guy, John, spoke to us over the phone. Why the new guy has to take responsibility for this, I don't know, but he handled himself remarkably well. I don't know what's going on with whoever manages this location, or with the person training John, but they both need re-training.
John, my additional 2 stars are specifically for your exceptional customer service, keeping your word, and for taking on our ire with grace. Thank you for submitting the estimate, for actually listening to our concerns, and for taking action to address those concerns.
So, after waiting 3 weeks for the body repair estimate we scheduled an appointment for (on December 12th), and being told that it would be done Monday or Tuesday, we are being blown off by yet another central Illinois Gerber location! What is with these people and not keeping appointments? Their excuse? As the lady on the phone stated, they've, "had a lot of work come in." Beware: appointments with Gerber Collision & Glass mean absolutely NOTHING.
This is after taking the car to Bourbonnaise for an estimate, because there are no other businesses approved by USAA within an hour drive of where we live. Bourbonnaise also couldn't be bothered to keep not one, not two, but three separate appointments! Then, when we went in to take the car because they couldn't be bothered to run their business and make money, they had the audacity to make us wait while they took photos of the car! They told us they would get the estimate done, and they still haven't bothered to do it, either!
I don't know why USAA bothers with this horrendously bad business, but I am going to make sure, personally, that they revise Gerber's approval status. This is insane!
