My truck broke down during traveling from Massachusetts. I called and spoke to Brian I believe he said it's cost thousand dollars to replace the transfer case. I dropped it off with the triple AAA and wasn't sure if they're going to do soon. Called several times spoke to someone younger possible his son. He said they haven't started yet after almost week later. So I found someone who willing to do right away and gave me a firm price. Friday at 8 am spoke to his son that I will be towing my truck to another location. When I got there around 1030 am they moved my truck 20 ft forward to another parking lot and Brian charged me $225 just for checking transfer case. Did you check inside the transfer case in few hours? I have a gut feeling this is not a good place to drop off vehicles without giving prices. Customers come first Brian and you ripped me off $225
Frequently Asked Questions About A-J & H Transmission
What are the common signs of transmission problems?
Transmission issues can manifest in various ways. Some common indicators include: gears shifting too quickly or requiring more force, unusual noises during operation, red fluid leaks, a burning odor, vehicle vibration or poor acceleration, sudden loss of movement, or difficulty engaging gears. If you experience any of these symptoms, we recommend contacting A-J & H Transmission promptly for an expert assessment.
What might cause transmission fluid to leak?
Transmission fluid leaks can stem from several sources, including damage from road debris, excessive heat, air conditioner condensation issues, torque converter problems, misaligned or deteriorated transmission pan gaskets, worn-out rubber seals, or corrosion. While pinpointing the exact cause can be challenging, our skilled technicians are adept at identifying and resolving leak sources efficiently. We're committed to providing lasting solutions for all your transmission repair needs.

My car won't go into reverse. What is the problem?
When a vehicle won't engage reverse, it could indicate several issues. The problem might be as simple as needing a minor cable adjustment or a new sensor. However, it could also signify a more serious issue requiring a transmission rebuild. We recommend bringing your vehicle to our shop for a thorough assessment to determine the exact cause and appropriate solution.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a transmission?
Generally, repairing a transmission is more cost-effective than replacing it. Transmission repair involves replacing only the necessary parts to restore proper function. To ensure the most economical solution, it's crucial to obtain an accurate diagnosis from the start. We invite you to contact us for a professional assessment of your transmission's condition.
How much will a transmission repair cost?
The cost of transmission repair varies depending on the specific issue and the parts required for correction. In our experience, about 60% of repairs are minor and don't necessitate a complete overhaul. Modern transmissions are complex systems that require extensive testing to accurately diagnose problems. We offer a performance check to determine the exact nature of any transmission issues. Please contact us for more detailed information about potential costs.
What is the difference between a transmission flush and a transmission fluid change?
A transmission flush involves using a machine to remove old fluid and replace it with new fluid through the cooler lines, without changing the filter. A fluid change, on the other hand, includes removing the transmission pan, installing a new filter and pan gasket, and adding the appropriate type of transmission fluid. It's crucial to use the correct fluid type for your specific vehicle. We can help ensure your transmission receives the proper service it needs.
What should I look for when checking my transmission fluid?
When inspecting your transmission fluid, pay attention to the following: the current fluid level, the color (which should be bright, transparent red), the consistency (which should be thin and free of contaminants), and the odor (transmission fluid should be nearly odorless). A burnt smell may indicate a transmission issue. Some vehicles require special tools for fluid checks. We're here to assist if you need help with this process.
What warranties do you offer?

How long does a transmission rebuild take to complete?
The duration of a transmission rebuild can vary based on several factors. Typically, we can complete the process in about five business days. However, the exact timeframe may depend on parts availability and our current workload. We encourage you to contact us to discuss your specific situation and get a more accurate estimate for your transmission rebuild.
