- KKKatieFeb 22, 20181.0So the other day after hearing a thumping noise while on the highway I took my Jeep to the mechanics of oak lawn - after sitting for about a Twenty minutes he comes out and tells me it’s my driveshaft rear u joint that needed to be replaced but that for my car they don’t make just a rear u joint and I’d have to buy a whole new driveshaft which would cost about $600 because it’s not sold aftermarket plus labor. I called my mechanic(who is pretty far from where I was) and asked what he thought and right away told me that was not right. So I ended up taking my car to him just to find out it was my brakes and rotors falling apart! Nothing close to my driveshaft and nowhere near that expensive. I think they were just trying to make a quick couple hundred and trying to take advantage of someone who didn’t know much. I would not ever take my car back or recommend going unless you want to be ripped of and charged for something that’s not even wrong with your car.
