- CCCheyenne CDec 2, 20255.0I was in need of a new car battery yesterday, and this was the 4th place I called and the only place that said they could help me. Bill took my call yesterday afternoon, and was at the store when I came in the evening. He was kind, helpful, and changed my car battery in the cold and falling snow. I was very grateful to have gotten help yesterday after a stressful morning of my car not starting and needing roadside assistance. I spent the afternoon at work looking up car batteries and places I could purchase and have installed. I started with the closest auto stores to my home, one being the Autozone north on the street which is 3 minutes from my home. They told me they could not change it in this weather, and said they didn’t know if they could the next day either.. clearly it can be done in this weather, even if it isn’t ideal. Bill’s assistance took a lot of worry off my plate. This Advance Auto Parts location is where I will return should I need any other assistance. Thank you!

Typically a car battery will last 2-5 years, with premium batteries lasting 5-6 years. But you should replace it every 4 years for safe measures if you want to avoid any unwanted problems.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
