- MCmarius cablardaMar 9, 20261.0Went in for an oil change on 3/7 for a 2025 Honda H-RV. After the oil was changed I had to wait an additional 5 or 10 minutes as one of the mechanics informed me that the other mechanic in the pit was still reinstalling the skid plate. Later that night, I was driving and heard a scraping noise coming from beneath the car and saw that the skid plate had come loose. I returned to this location on 3/9, the next day it was open, and informed them that I had recently got an oil change there and that the skid plate had come loose. They went to investigate it and proceeded to tell me that it had nothing to do with them and that I probably hit something, causing it to come loose. They advised me to go to a Honda dealership to get it fixed. Between that afternoon and that night, I did not notice anything different in my driving or where I drove that would lead me to believe this was solely caused by me hitting or running over something. I have had this car for over year and even drove it to Toronto and back last spring and this is the first time this has happened, coincidentally the same day I had gotten an oil change. After a quick google search, it seems that this issue can be caused by improper reinstallation or rushed work at fast-lube shops. The Jiffy Lube mechanics were the last ones to touch the skid plate before it came loose. It is very possible that because it was reinstalled improperly, it was much easier for it to come loose whether I hit or ran over something or not, given the fact the car is relatively new. They offered no other solution other than for me to go to a Honda dealership to get it fixed and were adamant that it was solely my fault, without acknowledging the overwhelming possibility it could have been their fault as well. I refuse to believe these mechanics in a shop with tools and other hardware/fasteners at their disposal, couldn't come up with a way to reinstall the skid plate securely, given the fact it is likely their fault or at the very least, partly their fault, that it came loose. P.S. when I arrived there to show them, I was the only one in the shop and it was not busy. They could have take more time to try and fix it. I got the impression that they did not want to be bothered. If you have a Honda HR-V or any car with a skid plate. DO NOT TAKE IT HERE! They will reinstall it incorrectly and there’s a good chance it’ll fall off and they’ll blame it on you when you ask them to correct their mistake.
