I arrived via Amtrak from Reno, NV with the goal of renting a car for a couple of days and doing some sightseeing (Herbert Hoover, Effigy Mounds). They were surprised anyone would come here for tourism. I’d made the reservation online as I’ve done numerous times in the past with Enterprise. Upon arrival I’m told that I cannot rent a car with a debit card. I usually book with enterprise (and pay more I might add) specifically because they accept debit cards. I just rented a car last week to drive from Washington to Nevada to catch the train. It turns out debit cards are fine with Enterprise all over the country except in Galesburg. Something about the local owner’s decision. First time to Galesburg and definitely my last. Thank God there’s another train this evening.
