Mckayala is a delight. I'm sure the rest of the staff is as well, but I only ever interact with her. Anyway, it took about 25 minutes for the oil change and car wash, not even long enough for my friend to finish telling me about how sick she was feeling. My only complaint is that there were no puppies or kittens to play with, but if you're expecting cute, small animals at a car dealership, you're almost always going to be disappointed.
Work performed in a timely manner but they suggested a full set of tires when only an axle set was needed as three of the tires on the vehicle were well within acceptable wear range. I don't fault making money, but trying to sell people something they don't need is trash. Paired with previous alleged warranty repairs that weren't done, I'd advise caution when dealing with Elgin VW Service.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT - Unauthorized charges, incomplete repairs, no accountability
I brought my 2019 Jetta in for an oil sensor code/engine light on December 2nd. What followed was one of the most unprofessional service experiences I've ever had.
Services performed WITHOUT my authorization: I received a texted estimate requiring formal approval before any work could begin. When I didn't respond within 20 minutes (I'm a teacher and was in my classroom), the advisor called pressuring me to approve an oil change because "the car had been on the rack and the technician was waiting." I clearly stated I was NOT approving any services, especially since my bill was already over $1,000, and I did not consent to an oil change. I also asked her to update my estimate because some of the recommended services were part of a discounted package they were currently running. Instead of sending me a revised estimate for approval, she simply started all the work anyway. I was then expected to pay for unauthorized services while still texting back and forth trying to understand what I was even being charged—no revised estimate, no consent, just a bill I had to calculate myself.
Failed repairs and shoddy work: Within weeks, my engine light returned. We ran a scanner and the codes are suggesting either incomplete rodent wire repair or additional damage they completely missed during their "thorough inspection." Upon visual inspection, my oil level was also extremely low despite having "just been changed" raising serious questions about whether that service was even performed properly.
Zero warranty on their work: When I called to bring it back within 30 days, they refused to honor their work. I'd be charged a full diagnostic fee and any repairs- even for issues directly related to their incomplete service.
Save yourself the money, stress, and risk.
I had an extremely bad experience that caused serious financial harm.
My service protection cancellation was delayed for a full 6 months, either intentionally or due to negligence. Although I applied for the cancellation multiple times through the dealer, I was repeatedly told that it was “in process.” However, when I personally contacted Volkswagen Financial Services, I was informed that the request had never been submitted and was still active.
As a result, I had to submit the cancellation myself again via email directly to the finance center. I was forced to wait six months to receive my refund, and even after the waiting period ended, the refund was still not processed. Because of this prolonged delay, I was unable to refinance, paid additional interest, and suffered financial loss.
The behavior of the finance department was completely disrespectful and unprofessional. As soon as they recognized who I was, a finance employee hung up the phone on me. I called dozens of times, my information was taken repeatedly, and I was told “we will call you back,” yet not a single callback was ever made — not even once.
Dragging out a simple cancellation for months, deliberately misleading the customer, providing false information, and treating them this way is unacceptable. Due to this experience, I do not trust this company and would never recommend it to anyone.
I bough a gti year ago, it was a drama, so I called in for that specific car, did the online application, they call me back and told me everything was good to go. At that moment i didn’t have a car so they offered me to pick me up. So I was like ok good. When I arrived to the dealer I had to wait there for 5+ hrs because finance paper work wasn’t ready. So what they did was to roll over the car to me. 1 week later they called me like a lender didn’t approved you for the loan, we need to re apply, and I was like ok what can I do at this point. Finally the loan got approved, and when I went to signed the new documents with backed dates, they kinda forced me to get “extended warranty” I was like no thank you I don’t want it. The finance guy was come on I need to make an extra bonus you can cancel any time you want, get it now and if you cancel within 30 days you get your full payment back. 2 weeks I signed I called in to cancel the extend warranty. That’s where the show stars. They were not answering my calls bunch of excuses etc. I was calling in every hour until finally I got the cancellation latter again with backed dated. (I got proof of everything) the extended warranty company cancelled my warranty and sent the money to the dealership. As of today I haven’t got that money back yet. By the way all this happened back on dec 2024. They just give me bunch of excuses, don’t answers my calls, emails or text. They think that really smart. I and just giving me the long run just for me to get tired and loose my money. I guess that’s how they practice business, not only dating documents with back dates, but also by lying and stealing money. As of today there’s an investigation going on because apparently I’m not the only one that got scammed by them.
