The assistant manager was polite, but the other two employees were openly complaining about their manager and their work while I was the only customer in the bay. Growing up as a mechanic’s daughter, I know the basics — and I noticed right away they weren’t draining the oil from the bottom, but instead used a tool to pull it out from the top. I let it go and trusted the process. I paid $110 for a basic oil change. Two weeks later, my car started acting strange. We checked and realized there was no oil in my car. The undercarriage cover was completely soaked with oil. After talking with Neil Tire in Mattoon, they explained Valvoline oil itself is good — but only if the job is done correctly. This could have seriously damaged my car if we hadn’t caught it when we did. 🚫 I will not be returning to this location, and I’d advise others to be cautious.
