Start to finish, our experience was exceptional—especially given the circumstances. Our 2022 Chrysler Pacifica was involved in a hit-and-run while parked back in May of this year. The hit and run resulted in $9,811.09 in damage done to our van. It quickly became a huge and completely unnecessary mess trying to work with insurance. We eventually tracked down the driver, who was uninsured, although the vehicle itself was insured by its owner (who was not the driver).
After five exhausting months of going back and forth between our insurance and theirs and getting absolutely nowhere, I was worn down. As a stay-at-home mom of three—one of whom is medically complex—I simply didn’t have the time or energy to keep fighting. My husband works full time as a union electrician and we have a family cattle farm, so neither of us really had the time to continue bickering with the insurances. During the battle over who would pay (their insurance admitted fault). Although they admitted fault, charges still need to be dropped repairs had to be put on pause. That meant we were without our van for nearly two months, and it couldn’t be repaired as quickly as we had originally hoped—all because of the insurance conflict.
That’s when I reached out to Karla for guidance on how to move forward. She informed me about the RTA clause buried in the fine print of our policy, and I’m so grateful she did. Karla also recommended hiring an appraiser named Mark Olson. Mark took over the battle completely, and within just a few weeks, the case was settled—with a win! After getting our van back, we noticed a few minor issues, we called Karla and she made things right without hesitation.
I absolutely recommend Dieterich Probst Auto Body to anyone needing body work. We will definitely return if we ever need their services again!

Profit is the #1 Priority
I’m extremely disappointed with Probst Auto Body. After my deductible and insurance payment were applied, I was shocked to learn I still owed over $1,000—far more than I expected. While I did sign paperwork agreeing to cover what insurance didn’t, I assumed that would mean a couple hundred dollars at most. When Probst received the final supplement and realized the out-of-pocket cost would be this substantial, I believe a courtesy call should have been made—especially since they are a local business and knew I was pregnant at the time and had two young children at home.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had issues. A previous repair also involved a drawn-out struggle with a different insurance company to cover costs. We gave the shop the benefit of the doubt, assuming it was a one-time problem. Unfortunately, after going through this again and speaking with other former customers, it’s clear this is a pattern.
Regarding the quality, within a week, a chrome piece popped off our door, and the passenger seatbelt had been reinstalled incorrectly—both straps were tucked inside the trim. Thankfully, my husband was able to order a replacement chrome piece and reinstall it, along with fixing the seatbelt, to avoid the hassle of bringing the van back—especially since I had just given birth.
I’ll be honest—I didn’t know much about auto body work going into this. But after this experience, I did a lot of research and spoke with numerous other shops in the area. I learned that most of them work more directly with insurance companies to minimize surprise out-of-pocket costs. I felt compelled to leave this review in the hope that it helps other families who may not be able to afford unexpected fees like this.
If you don’t want to be stuck with a surprise bill, this is not the body shop to go to. I also anticipate prices will be even higher for future customers, as their labor rates increased shortly after my repair earlier this year.
We won’t be returning to Probst Auto Body and won’t be recommending them to others.

I had some cosmetic painting done to my 07 Avalanche. I went in for an estimate and they got me in the shop within a day or two. The turnaround time was fantastic! Quality work done at a reasonable price. They even threw in a complimentary detail -- Much needed on the dusty country road of Bishop Creek!! Highly Recommend to anyone needing Auto Body Repair.
