  I recently rented from SIXT and the experience was far below any reasonable standard. The service was very poor and it took forever to receive my car. The representative, Itzel, did not provide satisfactory service and seemed unhelpful throughout the process. The car I received was absolutely disgusting and dirty, far from clean or acceptable for rental use. I am not happy with the overall experience and will never rent from SIXT again.

  UPDATE: It has been impossible to get in touch with Sixt customer service. I have emailed asking for photos of the “damage” which they have not provided. Multiple emails to the damage claims address and customer service address have gone unanswered. I have additionally tried calling their customer service number and have been unable to get through to a representative. I cannot stress enough — do not rent from Sixt. Very disappointed with our Sixt rental car experience. As many other negative Google reviews have described, there’s a pattern where they give you a great deal on the rental car but then proceed to slap you with a questionable damage fee. When I picked up my car, they did not park it in a parking spot that would normally allow me to take full photos and videos of the car. Instead, they handed me the keys while the car was in the middle of a busy hotel pickup/drop off circle where hotel guests immediately honked to get me to move. When returning the car after hours, you do not return it to a Sixt employee, but rather hotel valet staff. This makes it unclear when “damage” could occur. It’s a shame they do this, knowing that most people have insurance through their credit cards and will likely be able to pay the claims this way. The damage claim they submitted showed a tiny <1 cm scratch, which I (mistakenly) deemed negligible when I was finally able to inspect the car on my own after driving away. I’m hoping that this review will encourage others to rent elsewhere in the city and not make the same mistake picking Sixt like I did. I have never had similar problems with more reputable rental car companies such as Hertz and Enterprise which are only blocks away. I will no longer be renting from Sixt.
