24 hours after of being backed into, I was at this Avondale Gerber location talking to Ricky getting an estimate. He was wonderful to work with, very professional and understanding. It was another month before I was able to get my car in (holidays, kids, etc). At the front desk Marci was so sweet, checking in on me as I missed my intial appointment because my daughter and myself were ill.
When I finally got my car in, it was quickly taken care of and it was continuously communicated to me of the progress. Ricky and his team were so understanding and patient as my car's, let's say 'electronics,' acted up making it impossible for me to pick up the day it was ready. A combination of quality work and a human touch are so rare these days but this speedbump was handled kindly. I could not recommend this team more.
The trauma of an accident, dealing with someone else's insurance, dealing with garbage loaners all put me in a pretty bad mood for 10 days. Getting my car back in the cleanest condition it has been in 7 years, with not even a shadow of a dent, really made my month.

Thanks to the brutal Chicago cold, my windshield cracked unexpectedly, but I couldn’t have asked for a better repair experience. David was amazing from start to finish and immediately reassured me that everything would be taken care of the same day, with no issues. The customer service was fantastic, communication was clear, and the repair was quick and seamless. I would highly recommend this location to any friends or family in need of windshield repair!

I was impressed with the quality of the customer service at this location, even though they only held my car and estimated it for insurance. While my car was a total loss, my experience at this location was worthy of praise. Very nice folks at this place.
I brought my car here after being rear ended because this shop was recommended by my insurance. At drop off, I was told repairs would take three to five days. That sounded reasonable, so I left my car.
Once they actually opened the car up, the timeline suddenly changed to seven to nine days. Factoring in weekends, that meant closer to nine to eleven days without a vehicle. When I asked why the estimate changed, the only explanation I got was “the estimate changed.” No acknowledgment that the original timeline was unrealistic, no apology, and no ownership. If there was any chance the repair would take over five days, they should have been honest upfront and said a week. When I gave that feedback, it was brushed off entirely.
When I finally picked up my car, I noticed all of my belongings from the trunk had been piled onto the back seats. While putting everything back, I discovered the rear right seat lift lever was loose and no longer functioned the same way as the left side. The first employee I mentioned this to immediately implied it was not their fault. A second employee admitted something was wrong and even confirmed the behavior based on his own car. Then a third person, likely a manager, dismissed the issue again and said “sorry” oh and “if I wanted to involve insurance, I could.”
The overall experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Between the misleading timeline, the refusal to acknowledge valid feedback, and the damage discovered at pickup that no one wanted to take responsibility for, this shop showed a serious lack of integrity and customer care. There are many body shops that communicate clearly and stand behind their work. I would strongly recommend choosing one of those instead.
