Joseph and Robert are awesome and honest! They were very helpful and patient while I figured out getting a rim replacement before getting a new tire. Great prices. Will be coming back. Strong recommendation!

Year of 2025. One of the tires of my 2013 Honda Accord was losing air and I made an App at the Car-x Tire & Auto 2509 N. Ashland Ave in Chicago 60614 for October 13th 2025 at 11 am. Rob Montgomery called me later on that day, saying that all tires needed replaced, and also the front rotors with the brake pads and the car will be ready next day, Oct 14th. The cost of everything was $1,447.63. I picked up the car next day and when I got home, I realized that they used the valve caps from the old tires. Next day my wife called and complaint about the problem to Joe Stanek. He told my wife to bring the car in and he’ll replace the old valve caps with new ones. 1st RED FLAG. After driving the car for a while, I’ve noticed that a lot of noise was coming from the front end of the car into the cockpit (some type of tires will do that, it’s how they are build), also the tire air pressure cadged lit red on the screen for low tire pressure. I called the shop, talked with Rob Montgomery and discussed the issues, and asked him if they balanced the tires after they were installed. He replied that I declined the balancing of the tires. I told him that I never said that, nor my wife and that balancing of tires is part of the procedure when new tires are installed. A BIG FABRIGATED LIE and a 2nd RED FLAG. I also asked him why they didn’t put the same Kumho tires this car had before? He again told me that I declined to put the Kumho tires and that I wanted something cheaper. Another BIG FABRIGATED LIE and a 3rd RED FLAG. I needed the car, so I called Car-x Tire & Auto about a month later to make an appointment so they can check those issues. First appointment was scheduled for Friday Nov 14th at 9 am. I took the car in, but when I got there I was told by Rob Montgomery that they were very busy and he couldn’t take me in and rescheduled it foe next day Saturday Nov 15th at 10:30 am. I took the car on Saturday, but I was told again, this time by Joe Stanek that they didn’t have enough mechanics and rescheduled it for Monday Nov 17th 2025. Dropped the car on Monday November 17th at the Car-x 2509 N. Ashland Ave in Chicago. I discussed the issues with Rob Montgomery, telling him about the noise coming from the front of the car, specifically the right side and I asked him that one of his mechanics should drive with me so he can hear the noises and get a better understanding of the issue(s). If I’m not mistaken a mechanic named Jose assigned to drive with me. I started driving the car and pointed out the noises they were coming from the front, but he said that he couldn’t hear anything. He almost accused me that I am making things up (I doubt that this mechanic, Jose, is a certified mechanic). I said to him that he should drive the car, pay more attention to the front of the car so he can hear the noises coming into the cockpit. He started driving the car and finally he was able to hear the noises coming from the front of the car specifically the right side. Then he pointed out an entirely different issue(s) this car had. He drove the car back to the shop and after inspecting it said the front whole suspension was in bad condition and had to be replaced. 4th RED FLAG. How come no one, not Rob Montgomery nor Joe Stanek from this Car-x Tire & Auto shop didn’t mention/say anything to me about the bad front suspension when the car was dropped off on October 13th, 2025, for replacing all four tires, two front rotors along with the front brake pads????? And how all of a sudden now on Nov 17th of 2025, they saw/acknowledge the bad front suspension??? The Car-x Tire & Auto shop on 2509 N. Ashland Ave Chicago, IL 60614 is worthless in terms of customer service, honesty, integrity, professionalism and work ethic. Both, Robert Montgomery and Joseph Stanek have the tendency to lie, being dishonest, blame others and not take responsibility as managers of this Car-x Tires & Auto shop on 2509 N. Ashland, Chicago 60614 location. P.S. It was a far better place when Miguel Melendez was a manager back in 2022 and everything in this shop was working properly.

If you only want 4 of your 5 lug nuts installed, come here. If you want your oil pan plug stripped, come here. If you want the wrong oil put in your car, come here. If you want your splash guard under your car cut open, come here. If you'd like to be treated like you are sub-human and you welcome wasting your time and money, come here.

I had a mixed experience here. They replaced the battery in my Subaru, they were really helpful and kind. When picking up my car the passenger side window wouldn't roll down and the digital display speedometer wasn't working. I came right back to let them know as it seemed clear to me it was something with the battery replacement. Immediately one of the gentlemen at the front became very defensive saying we didn't touch the speedometer, and your window could have been broken before hand but we will take a look. They fixed the speedometer but proceeded to be quite aggressive to me about the window. I tried to make my case, the mechanic was saying he could check the fuses etc but the manager (I think?) was proceeding to stand in the parking lot and talk quite loudly in my direction that the window was probably broken beforehand and they had nothing to do with it. I left in tears and incredibly stressed feeling like I just paid a large amount of money to be taken advantage of and leave with a broken car. I was later able to do research and sometimes when you replace the battery in a Subaru you have to reset the automatic windows. I fixed it myself in 15 seconds, but will not be returning to this place due to the hostility and aggression from the manager when something was wrong. Prior to that they were very friendly and throughout the ordeal the mechanic was very kind. Unfortunate customer service on something that didn't need to be an ordeal.

Do not take your car here! I brought my car to this Car X on Ashland on July 28th after it wouldn’t start and the experience was completely disastrous. I’m just now writing this review because it took until November to finally get "resolved." The manager told me I needed a new starter and that they had to remove some kind of “kill switch” to get the vehicle to start with the new starter. Don’t ask me why simply replacing the starter wouldn’t solve the problem, as they could not give me a coherent explanation and my other second opinion autos hops were not aware of what they were even talking about. Nevertheless, they removed said switch but failed to mention any possible issues that could arise from doing so. After getting my vehicle back in worse shape than when I left it with them, they tried to tell me I was lying about not being informed about the possible issues. I’m no mechanic, but the result was a list of electrical problems I have never had in eight years of owning my car. My key fob stopped working, the locks and dash features were not working properly, and warning lights came on. For the MANY days/ weeks my car was at this shop, I was repeatedly told my car was “ready,” by the assistant manager, only to show up and find that it wasn't. (whether they still needed to fix some “wiring” or it was still disassembled) The communication here was terrible. I spent nearly $300 on Uber rides because of their false updates. Throughout the next month, the shop kept my car for days at a time, with little to no updates unless I contacted them. I had to eventually contact the corporate office and I spoke with the corporate manager(which was pointless). He had told me the kill switch should never have been removed and both him and the manager told me the repairs for the electrical issues they caused would be free. But while keeping my car there for days at a time, they had no idea how to even fix it. The manager told me they don’t normally work on electrical issues but continued “trying” to fix the problem anyway. Eventually, the manager told me to take the car to another Car x location. But, when I spoke to the corporate manager yet again about this situation, he told me not to go to another location none of this was making any sense at this point and eventually I began to suspect that they blocked my phone number to no longer be in contact with me, as I could only have these conversations if I showed up in person. After weeks of the back and forth nonsense, I finally asked for a refund. The manager agreed and told me it would take 4-6 weeks for it to hit my bank. I waited 6 weeks and no refund. I contacted the manager and he told me that he had emailed corporate and asked about it and said the refund was “processing” but would not send me proof of said email. After months of being promised a refund that never came, I had to dispute the charge with my bank. I finally got my refund. All of this went on from July 28th until November 14th.…… The funny ending to this story is that, and after some continued bad luck with someone stealing my catalytic converter, I took my car to a different shop, and so I mentioned the supposedly super complicated electrical issues in hopes they may be able to do something to fix it. In less than a day, they fixed everything wrong with my car and simply stated that “complex” electrical issues were nothing more than a few blown fuses. Do not take your car to Car X. They are simply out of depth in fixing basic issues. The one redeeming aspect was that I got my refund, (even though the Ubers and lost work cost nearly as much as the initial charge they wanted to fix my starter). Just know that if my story isn’t enough to convince you, I met another guy in the Car X parking lot, who was going through the same issues as me. This man was darn near in tears telling me about his situation. Please save yourselves and do not go here.
