  Alamo car hire ohare chicago well what a load if CRAP. On my 50th decided to do route 66 with my wife. Arrived to pick up the car i ordered a sporty car ie dodge challanger v8 there were no sporty v8 he offered me a v8 which looked like suv hardly sporty .we ended up with a weak mustang eco boost convertable so you can imagine the fun every night of our road trip trying to get the suitcase out of the back seat as only 1 fitted in the boot, what a let down . Then the next bit spent an hr waiting for gps as they were all old did not work and were flat they managed to get one but some of the letters were touch sensative and did not work the manager dealing with us said dont worry i put 300 dollars as a refund this was on 4 sep 2025 Waited a month no refund what a surprise. Emailed them they have said it will take up to another 90 days yes 4 months to give you a 300 dollar refund what a JOKE To sum it up if your after a certain car dont bother as when you arrive all they got is SHIT .Then with refunds i personally think they drag it out as long as possible so you give up . ABSOLUTLELY DISGUSTING for a company if that size. Do yourself a favour and dont bother

  The agent directed me the wrong way to pick up the car. I went up and down in the elevator, with my heavy luggage, twice until another customer helped me. It’s confusing having to go up to another level to rent the car and a different level to pick up the car. After I get the car it would have been helpful for the agent to direct me to the exit. I was at 2 dead ends in the garage before another customer directed me.

  When in doubt, Alamo rental car is who I recommend. They came through for me in the clutch when I was denied a rental car from three different other services. I appreciate the professionalism that the representative had that evening that late or early morning at O'Hare airport. He explained everything. I was on a turnaround trip and this was the best experience I ever had with a rental car company.

  Another great rental experience with Alamo Chicago. The car was ready, with keys in it. All the paper work was done in advance for two drivers. We walked from the luggage area to a waiting car. Fast and easy! On return we had a really pleasant professional young man check us back in. By the time we were done joking with him, he had us on our way. Great all around experience.

  Quite poor experience with Alamo on 11/8 around 12am (midnight). Since as usual the front desks are closed at this hour all customers from alamo, national, enterprise (all same parent company) go to the small booth on the 3rd level. They had 2-3 staff working and a very very long cue. 45 mins from joining cue to driving out with car. For what we over-pay with these companies I expect 0-10 min waits and no hassling with non-existent damages and upselling shenanigans/fuel level shenanigans. Might as well go with hertz/thrifty/avis/budget and deal with a chargeback scenario instead of wait for this nightmare of staffing situation with alamo/enterprise/national. And to clarify, all these customers had bookings, so the company knew what demand would be and they chose not to staff appropriately.
