Tara, Dave, and the whole team made getting my truck fixed so easy and stress free! I hit a deer and called around to a couple shops to get info and repair time estimates and Auto Express was by far the friendliest, most helpful, and had the fastest repair turn around time, with it only taking 4 days to get my truck looking brand new once it was time to bring it in! They even hand washed it because it was super dirty. Gonna be my go-to body shop for as long as I’m in Boise!

So, the gel in the CUE infotainment module in my mother-in-law’s 2013 Cadillac XTS finally dried up and rendered the touchscreen useless. (Not one of GM’s finer engineering decisions). In the middle of August that meant no way to turn the AC on and off. I discovered the cost of replacement was going to be $800 to $1200 if I could find a 3rd party to do the work. Dealership estimates were close to $2,000. I started calling around to sound and audio shops and eventually found only one shop in Nampa that would even take a look and give me an estimate. He would only use GM parts and the module would cost $800 with other parts and labor totaling a little over $1,100. Then I discovered ISS automotive online. They specialize in electronic fixes and replacements for a multitude of automotive models. They had an upgraded module (no gel) for $499 marked down to $377.99. I paid for the module, the warranty option and for expedited shipping. It was matched to the Vin number of the Caddy for programming purposes and was an exact fit. If you send in your old module they warranty the replacement for life. It came with a DIY video which was easy to follow. I found an even more detailed video for the 2013 XTS that had even more detail. I’m not mechanically inclined, but I have a brother-in-law who is extremely mechanically inclined and he came over and we tackled the disassembly, installation and reinstallation of the new module. After 3 hours in we were reverse engineering the video to make sure we got the reassemble of the interior parts of the Cadillac correct. And we hit a snag. Things weren’t fitting. They were as much as a half inch off where we needed to match parts with hex bolts. We tried to figure it out for another hour and came up stumped. I let the car sit for a couple days in my garage, with my frustration mounting, then decided to call my regular mechanic at Meineke here in Nampa. We had taken the Caddy in for them to look at, but they just didn’t do that kind of deep dive into the electronics of a vehicle like that. I called the shop back and asked if there was anybody they could recommend. Serendipitously, one of the mechanics used to work for Auto Express and told me to give Dave, the owner a call. I called Dave and he said bring the car over, he had an employee on vacation so he had scheduled fewer repairs for the week and had time to look at it. Another serendipitous blessing. After I hung up, I checked out his website and noticed he had 5.0 star reviews. Dave asked if we could leave the car and we said keep it as long as you need. I was hoping for a 2 to 3 hour labor charge intervention at this point. Happy to pay it! We dropped the car off at 12:10pm and left. At 1:10pm I’m driving to Middleton and I get a text that the Caddy is ready with a 1 hour labor charge. What?! That’s the difference between a professional and a mechanically inclined amateur. Total cost of the module replacemnt and labor. $480. I told Dave I would give him six stars if I could. Finding a guy like Dave, who does the right thing and doesn’t overcharge for it a rare thing in this industry. Go check him out!
