Throughout the six month period that the device was installed, the customer service was good. However, upon removal, I was overcharged almost $200. I called everyday for a week. I spent an enormous amount of time on hold and 3 times I was supposed to speak with an account specialist. Messages were left. I was assured that I'd receive return calls, but never did. I'm still trying to correct this error.

So normally I don't write bad reviews but this has pushed me to my limit! Sarah (so she says is her name), is very rude and accusatory. My machine kept giving me readings, but then started failing me. I haven't had a drink in over a year, so I know it's not giving off readings for that reason. Keep in mind, I have had this thing over a year and am very familiar with all the things that can give off false readings. Long story short, had my car towed (over $200) to service shop, full inspection ($150), and they said it was my battery (another $100). So I get my car back on the road, still taking a long time to sample, called that night when I got home, said nothing to worry about. One week later, failing me again...called Sarah answered and kept telling me it couldn't be the device, it had to be me, or something in my car. Asked to talk to supervisor, said supervisor not in, but I could leave a voicemail??? I wanted to talk to a supervisor (which she said one told her that I could only talk to her or leave a message)?? Tried to talk to her again, but she told to me to open my car doors and let my car air out. On phone for 40 minutes...Now trying to call back and wait time is ALWAYS AT LEAST 15 MINUTES!!! The other people that I have talked to (and there has been a lot over the last year, lots of issues) have been so kind and helpful. I have another 2 years left with the machine and am really thinking about finding a new service. This is ridiculous!!!! Sorry for the rant but I am at my wits end!!!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Mindr

How does an interlock device work?

Once the device is installed, drivers blow into the car breathalyzer mouthpiece to provide a breath sample. The device tests for breath alcohol content (BrAC) within the legal limit. If it's under the limit (typically .02), then the driver can put their keys in the ignition and start the car.

What is the cost of ignition interlock device?

An ignition interlock device, also frequently referred to as a car breathalyzer, ranges in cost between $70 and $150 for installation. This fee is a one-time fee paid at the start of your lease period for the device to be installed into your vehicle. This fee is paid directly to the service center for the work done to complete your installation.
