- TJTwalla Jenkins3 days ago1.0I was waved to the rear of the facility where the instant wait-in-car oil changes occur as is customary. Then, before I got to the driveway of the service bay area I was told to stop and reverse. The attendant crassly and sternly just told me that they do not service my type of model car right now (a Hyundai Accent). He mentioned something about type and/or grade of oil also being incompatible with my car as well as not having the proper oil filters in stock, etc., etc., etc., and that he did not know when I would be able to get service there. It all just sounded as if it was a pathetic excuse since photos of a very similar model Hyundai Elantra being towed into the facility were posted on their Google account. Either that or it was a sister store further west down route 6 in Clive, proving that it most likely was due to the fact that he saw the lack of an Iowa front plate, only New Mexico, and hence we were persona non grata. It was as if they ignorantly thought we were Mexican, as opposed to New Mexicans. My spouse is olive-skinned and of Italian-American descent but not Mexican or Latin whatsoever, and neither one of us speaks any fluent Spanish nor has anything other than a Southwestern accent common in mid-West Iowa. This attitude was prevalent with many other places of business until I got Iowa plates. Way to make one feel welcome in a new state that is still part of America! Instead I went to Missouri, and continue to do so, as green is their preferred color.
