Reserved a car online for pickup Nov 26, checked in online, get to the location, go through the normal routine, get done checking out the car and then payment, and then they spring a deposit on me. Problem is, no where during reservation or confirmation does it say that I'd have to pay a deposit. I budget and plan trips specifically so I can afford them. No one called either ahead of time, which I thought was a little odd. So yeah, I got surprised with a $300 deposit. I've never had to put a deposit down before when I used a credit card, and I've used Enterprise extensively in years past, and generally been pleased with them. I understand policy may change so it's not so much having to pay a deposit (and yes, I know it's refundable), it's the lack of any information about the required deposit at any point in the process - it should be front and center during reservation and/or check in. Well the branch manager then tried to tell me they called me. Except they hadn't - they'd called my emergency contact for some reason. Yes, my contact information was correct. I literally just checked in online and verified all of that, as well as during the initial reservation. I get screw ups happen, but it should have been a BIG RED FLAG when they didn't get a hold of the ACTUAL FREAKING RENTER when they were calling for confirmation. Right? RIGHT? Well, the manager then tried to tell me I'd gotten numbers mixed up. Except I hadn't. They'd screwed up. I canceled the rental, as I will not give business to a location that fails to do the most basic thing of contacting the actual CUSTOMER on the rental reservation, and then tried to blame the customer for their screw up. I will do my best to avoid this location and will point others to other locations as well.
