  I had the best service at this particular Auto Zone due to a gentleman named John. He greeted me as soon as I walked into the store and asked me if he could help me find what I was looking for. He also taught me the difference in the item I needed and to make sure I that I picked the correct one by looking my car up in the computer. He went that extra mile that people just don't do anymore and they should. I highly recommend going to this Auto Zone located in Ames and maybe you will get the same service and kindness as I did from John.

  Genuinely the best experience I have ever had in customer support. I came in because I had a bad battery and a guy by the name of Robb (pretty sure he is a manager there), tested the battery to make sure it was faulty. Afterward, I bought a new battery and he was able to install it completely free of charge and was very efficient with the whole process. Although he did let me know that it depends on where your battery is located in your car, he was more than happy to fix it up. Great man!

  Go to parts store in ames. Been going here for a few years. Staff are better than the oreilys and advanced.

  I am 78 years old and a retired college president living in Ankeny, Iowa, on the north side of Des Moines. Our grandson from Birmingham, AL, came to Ames to attend Iowa State Univ. Last week the battery in his vehicle was dead. Today, in 20 degree cold weather, I drove to Ames. We jump started the vehicle and then drove to the Auto Zone on Duff to have the battery checked. Your employee, I believe his name was Addison, tested and removed the battery. Apparently, it had frozen and the ends were bulged out. I can't believe we had been able to jump it. Addison put in a new battery, always an awkward thing to do in tight spaces. He was professional and courteous and said he had worked there for 2 years. My only complaint is that he refused to accept a $20 tip. Auto Zone, you have a keeper in Addison!

  I called ahead to ask if they install tail light bulbs, and was told something like, "basically yes." The "basically" part should have been a red flag, but I went anyways. I bought the lights, but they initially got the wrong ones, so we had to do a refund. The guy who was helping me with the installation didn't seem to know what he was doing. We wasted time out in the cold while he kind of futzed around. I didn't have a lot of time to spend of this, so I asked (politely) if the other employee maybe would have more experience to do this kind of thing. He apparently didn't either, and told me that they didn't have training and their installation service was kind of "best effort" (they'll try their best, but no guarantees). Which is fine, but I was told otherwise on the phone, and he was being kind of rude about it. So I left and will have my mechanic replace the bulb.
