  Another fantastic experience with Sixt - every time we travel, renting with Sixt has always brought our vacation experience to the next level. Quality, reliable, reasonable, and most of all - friendly service. Their kind representative, Kawai, greeted us right before they closed, gave us a warm welcome, offered us a better car, and gave us some of the best island recommendations we got during our whole stay.   DO NOT RENT FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They provide horribly scratched and damaged vehicles and then try to blame the damage on you. When we first saw the car, we showed the rental agent that (1) the car was horribly scratched; (2) the tires had no tread; (3) one of the tires was flat; (4) buttons were missing from the interior of the car console; and (5) the check engine light was on. When I flagged all this to the rep at the desk, they told me to take a video of the damages (as they apparently try this scam on customers frequently). They filled the flat tire with air and that's it. When we returned the car the agent accepting it asked about the scratches. I told him they were there from the time of pickup and showed him the video. After the fact they sent me a damage claim, and I again uploaded the video. Then they sent me a bill for $1500. I will be reporting this to every relevant regulatory agency. But, please be warned DO NOT RENT FROM THEM EVEN IF THEY ARE CHEAPER.

  Michelle and Vernin were awesome at check in and check out respectively. We got a brand new X5 - exactly what we had booked. Zero wait times at both check in and checkout . Extremely clear with no push to upsell. 6 stars out of 5! Wish other rental companies and branches were like you too! Mahalo and Aloha!

  The employees are the ONLY reason Lihue airport Sixt is getting any stars from me at all. Shuttle at the airport took longer than expected. Every other rental shuttle came at least twice if not more before the Sixt shuttle came. That being said, the kid driving was very kind & helpful. When I got to the rental location, the employee (I forget her name but she was SO kind) informed me that they didn’t have the specific vehicle I reserved (a small sedan due to the tiny parking spots as well as the equipment I would be renting that had to be attached to the top of the car). She first offered me a convertible which I refused. I don’t want a sports car on uneven roads full of pot holes & gravel. And I was renting a paddleboard that had to be attached to the top. She then said I could have an SUV. I told her that was unacceptable due to the equipment. She very kindly went to the back to check if there was anything smaller but there wasn’t so I had no choice but to take the SUV. She told me a manager would be contacting me to exchange the vehicle, which I thought was great. Except they never did. I called everyday for 3 days straight. I did receive emails back but was told an exchange for the vehicle I wanted wasn’t possible. ONLY AFTER I GOT MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY INVOLVED DID I RECEIVE A PHONE CALL. The man checking me out at return was also very kind. The wait back to the airport was maybe 5 mins. The size of this car made parking SO difficult. It didn’t easily fit in any parking spots in multiple places on the island. What is the point of reserving a specific vehicle, months in advance, if it’s not going to be available? I would not recommend Sixt to anyone. I’d rather pay more at a bigger company, for a rental agency on site, that gives me the vehicle I reserved.

  When we arrived in Lihue I was disappointed to realize that SIXT is NOT located at the airport. I immediately was concerned wondering how I was supposed to get to the rental location. However, a Shuttle arrived right away to take us and the employee was very professional and helpful! When I arrived the lady checking me in was so friendly and welcoming! She gave us waters and candy for our kids. Our Jeep was great and there were no issues. Returning was incredibly easy and the man helping us again, so kind and professional. The shuttles are very regular and frequent so the waiting is minimal and if anything it's more convenient. I'd definitely use them again!
