  100 reservations and 1 person working the desk. Been in line over an hour and only half way to the desk. This is an absolute joke! When confronted the people at the desk said this is how it is every day. Do not use this budget. Pay the extra go anywhere else! no lines at hurtz, no lines at enterprise. Budget has lost my business forever.

  Similarly to the other reviews below, the reason for our 2 star rating is the condition of the car we received. It had a smell of feces and on the passenger’s seat there was a feces type stain. Everytime we opened the vehicle it smelled. We were only in Kauai for a short period of time and did not have time to complain, but we were disappointed in the condition of the vehicle. We selected a RAV4 for rental through Expedia, however we received a Chevrolet TrailBlazer. It was comparable but a good drive. We were offered a Jeep at a higher price but did not accept. We were also offered higher insurance for $300 USD but also did not accept. I didn’t appreciate the last minute opportunity to upgrade our insurance, I would have appreciated something in writing to review as we are risk averse. Overall, the experience was ok, I found the shuttle service very frequent and reasonable. I had no issues dropping off the vehicle and they didn’t take long to inspect it.

  I originally reserved a sedan, but upon arrival and due to inclement weather and flooding warnings on the island, I felt pressured by staff to upgrade to an SUV, being told it was the safest option. I agreed and paid the additional cost. Six days into my rental, the vehicle’s battery suddenly died. I contacted customer service, and while they did send a field technician, I spent nearly 3 hours waiting for help. Because of this delay, I missed a scheduled Napali Coast tour that cost me $240. I was told I could exchange the vehicle, but the process was incredibly inconvenient. After the car was jumped in Princeville, I had to drive 1 hour and 10 minutes to Lihue to exchange it, then drive another hour and 10 minutes back to Princeville. This consumed nearly half a day of my vacation dealing with a problem that was not my fault. The most frustrating part came after my trip ended. I received an email claiming there was “new damage” to the vehicle described as “car won’t start,” and I was asked to fill out an incident form. The very next day, I was sent an invoice for $418 for a battery replacement, stating the damage occurred during my rental. No maintenance records or evidence were provided to show the battery’s prior condition. I take responsibility when I make mistakes. But I know I did not leave lights on or do anything negligent. Instead, I was the one inconvenienced, lost valuable vacation time, and missed an expensive excursion due to their vehicle failure only to be charged for it afterward. This experience felt unfair, unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. I will never rent from Sixt again and strongly encourage others to be cautious.

  Though best priced, this place is much smaller than other rentals & is off-site. It's 0.8 miles away and has 1 shuttle up until 10am, then they have 2 thereafter. Given the above, it definitely takes some pre-planning, I couldn't recommend if you have to be somewhere right away after you land and/or you're on a tight schedule returning the car. Their system seems pretty manual too. Employees at the counter make regular trips outside to see their inventory. But at the same time, they are very friendly, they can move you along if you're in a rush, or take time to chat no matter how long or short the line is. For example, one of the girls saw my kids waiting outside and wanted to give them candy, but we declined to help move the long line along. Overall, our experience was good. The rental itself was fine, but we'll definitely take into account the waiting upon our next trip to Kauai.

  Apparently sixt rentals is not at the airport, and the shuttle had not come in the nearly 30 mins I was waiting. Every other rental has brought a shuttle through 3 times by then. I tried to contact sixt helpline via phone and the hold time was so long that I gave up. I booked an uber just before the shuttle finally arrived, the driver said the other shuttle driver called out making the routes take longer. This made me late for my scheduled work. I expected an "airport" shuttle to be at the airport - I am disappointed in the level of misinformation provided at the time of booking and inability to refund and get another conveniently located rental in a timely manner. The manager then later argued that there's no way my experience was accurate because they are alerted if a shuttle is more than 10 minutes. I was also not given any verbal instructions on checking for vehicle damage, taking photos, etc - and being that I was made late I did not take that upon myself. Later dirt from the road and rental location in the industrial area revealed some scratches which I had not seen until the agent came back around the corner after my drop off to alert me - despite my plea to let me get onto the shuttle so that I don't miss my flight. Work schedule, and flight times were very tight. The fumbling of "paperwork" at this point and disregarding my need to get onto the plane ended with missing the shuttle. They even handed me someone else's damage report at first where I had to alert them it wasn't blank. Looking at other reviews, it seems that damaged vehicles are commonplace. There were just far too many issues across every part of this experience for me to have a good review overall. One kind desk agent "Kawai" is not enough to excuse the rest of the experience.
