  Beware of this company Worst customer service Charged us 420 for a bogus claim.. worst customer service., very far from the airport .. the staff are unprofessional and the goal is to charge u for made up claims..

  Was helped by Mark at the front desk and this gentleman was very friendly, helpful, hospitable and efficient! So glad I booked with Sixt. Mark was even able to upgrade my vehicle! God bless him and this establishment 🙏🏽

  We booked a BMW last April in Kona HI. We did so because we wanted a premium car and were were willing to pay a little extra. The wait at the Kona Airport for the shuttle was 30 min. Once we arrived at the rental office, we were immediately taken back by the 3rd degree task of documenting any damage to the car. No express pick up here. We spent a good 15 min. talking over every ticky tack nick and scratch on the car and it was worse on the return even though we had no new damage on the car. They say up front the damages are already documented, but not all of it. The noted issues were literally old looking meaning if you miss something, they can come back and blame you for it. FF to March 2026, for a 9 day rental X3 for $44'ish in Kona. We put in our flight times for 9 days, but when we confirmed and booked it gave us a price for 70 days, (Price details after booking of $3, 863. We get the surcharges and license fees and taxes, but there was no way to opt out of the 70 days (no way to see our cost for the 9 days up front), so I had to call back, wait and wait for a representative and without any explanations explaining why it was priced for 70 days when we only 9 days needed, finally allowed us to cancel. No where during the booking process did it show our pricing for the 9 days. I just don't get their deceptive approaches to car rental. "Nothing is easy at Sixt!" Hard to believe they just allow anyone to walk away. Clean driving record, payment up front, and hassles from there.

  I lost my driver's license on my way to Kona in the airport. My 30 year old daughter was with me and she had her driver's license. Sixt would not let her drive the car because the car was charged on my credit card. She didn't have a credit card with her so we were unable to rent the car and they still charged me the total price of the rental which was $268 for 5 days. It really put a damper on my vacation. I don't understand why I couldn't pay for the rental and have my daughter as the driver. Guess they made some extra money off me that day because they they were able to rent the car that I already paid for.

  Well, my husband managed to pull off the “great aloha-spirit key swap” through Sixt last night. He rented two BMWs from their company at same time, but on two different Hawaiian islands. After a full travel day, and landing back at KOA, we quickly learned he got the keys got mixed up. We found ourselves in the parking lot of KOA holding a BMW key that unlocked absolutely nothing. Why? Because it was the key to the BMW in Honolulu. Because why wouldn’t that be the way our lovely day ended. Thankfully, the staff in Kona saved the day. Even though our plane arrived 35 minutes before they closed, they worked with the GM (who we learned was in bed likely sleeping) at the last minute to get us the right keys. We could not have asked for better customer service under pressure. Oahu, on the other hand, in all of this I might add, seemed more convinced we were trying to pull off some kind of key heist; because the staff here at KOA were told we checked in the car and everything was fine, and they had their key. OMG - they didn’t!! They thought we were doing something shady, even with both reservations in the system, valid ID, receipts, personal info - etc. - they refused to acknowledge their mistake and went rounds for a hot minute. It made an already long, exhausting day even longer. At this point, every moment mattered. I was tired. In the end, KOA’s staff turned a series of human errors into a relief, and was able to have the individual in Oahu notice they had the wrong key via license plate attached to the fob. Pro travel tip: always check your keys before leaving an island. Apparently it’s too easy to walk away with the wrong fob and no-one is the wiser! Safe travels back to your home Honolulu key. Thank you staff at KOA, you’re appreciated and we will continue to rent with you! And for peace of mind because we’re still here, I took possession of the keys. My husband has lost key privileges and we’re having a lovely day. Thank you for making a difficult situation manageable. You did well!
