⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five stars – not because nothing ever goes wrong, but because of how professionally and honestly SMD handled it when it did. I have trusted SMD Tyres for my motorcycle tyres for many years and have always received excellent service, expert advice, and competitive prices.
In May this year, for the first time, something went wrong. A junior fitter accidentally put a small gouge in the front alloy wheel of my 2021 BMW R1250GS Adventure.
However, what happened next is exactly why I will continue to recommend SMD to anyone.
I've heard plenty of stories about tyre fitters trying to hide accidental damage and sending customers on their way hoping they never notice. SMD did the complete opposite. They immediately called me into the workshop, showed me the damage, apologised, and took full responsibility without any excuses or hesitation.
When I asked how they intended to resolve the issue, they told me straight away to order a replacement wheel from BMW and that they would cover the cost. The new wheel was ordered through Williams BMW, fitted to the bike, and SMD paid the bill exactly as promised.
Anyone can provide good service when everything goes smoothly. The true measure of a company is how they deal with a mistake, and SMD demonstrated honesty, integrity, and professionalism from start to finish. They did the right thing without being asked, and that level of trustworthiness is increasingly rare these days.
