Booked front wheel tracking alignment and front tyre balancing.
Tyre balancing ok, but
Refused to do my tracking because my car was lowered apparently "lowering the car means its impossible to do front tracking as the geometry of the car is changed and no laser system can do it"
I knew this wasn't the case and they didn't even attempt the job, didn't even put the car on the ramp when I asked them too try anyway.. I've had tracking done many times on cars with air bags, coilovers etc. And never an issue but protyre says it's impossible.
Anyway. Straight from protyre to another well known garage. (National tyres) They done it no questions asked within 15 minutes with no issues at all. And were quite happy to laugh about the fact protyre wouldn't do it.
Also £30 for 2 wheels to be balanced seems a little pricey, maybe that's just my opinion

Recently took our car to Protyre Taunton for a service and MOT. We were advised that additional suspension work was needed, which we agreed to, but unfortunately the car now seems to drive worse than before and still has the original creaking issue, along with a new clunking noise that wasn’t present previously.
There was also confusion with the paperwork as we were initially given another customer’s MOT certificate. When we returned to collect the correct one and ask about the ongoing issues, the experience was disappointing. The staff member on the front desk was dismissive, blunt and unhelpful when we tried to explain our concerns.
Another confusing point was that advisories mentioned verbally during the original visit didn’t appear on the MOT certificate we were later given.
Mistakes can happen, but overall the customer service and handling of the situation left us with very little confidence. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Have used these guys for a few years now & keep coming back.
Today I needed a slow puncture fixed, no problem. They then highlighted that I had messed up & MOT was out. They were able to put it through immediately(fortunately it passed), thus saving me potentially £1000 fine & also making sure my vehicle was safe.

So ive been taking my car to protyre for a while now and I also carry out all the repairs on my car. And recently carried out some repairs on 28th of April 2026 and didn't see any holes but did notice some surface rust. But to receive my car yesterday back from the mot failed due to rust in the rear and to find these big holes which I can confirm wasn't there. Which im not happy about what so ever now I need to spend more money to get repairs done which weren't there before. In the pictures you can see that the stone chip has been picked off and looks to me that this has all been pushed through which correct me if im wrong but im sure your not aloud to poke holes with screwdrivers or hammers let alone take panels off in a mot so not happy and will not be returning.

Awful customer service. Booked in my rare unusual vehicle for a wheel alignment over the phone, explained everything about it and was assured it was no problem.
Arrived for the appointment to be told in a rude manner ‘Nope, can’t be done mate, it’s a Hunter wheel alignment machine and your vehicle’s jacked up and got bigger wheels on it’ - unbeknown to them that it’s just a rare vehicle they’re unfamiliar with. I tried to explain that their machine will have data for the vehicle if they take a look, only to be told ‘nope can’t be done’.
I even explained that they had performed the alignment on it the last time it was done.‘Nope, no we won’t have any data for it, can’t be done’
No apology, no sorry I’m afraid we can’t do it, just short thrift ‘Can’t be done mate’.
Terrible customer service, probably the most rudely I’ve been dealt with in any retail environment in my life.

Update - I thought I would research the Hunter alignment machine to check if the data would be unavailable like I was told. Surprise surprise it is of course available and can also be fine tuned based upon the ride height of the vehicle which is easily measured from wheel archly to hub center.
I have added some pictures to this review to show that the alignment data is freely available, proving how ignorant, uninformed and unwilling to help the member of staff was despite me trying to explain.

As you can see below and on many other reviews on this page Protyre have reached out and asked for an email exchange to resolve the matter. I just wanted add that they did get in touch with me saying that the area manager had been informed and would be in touch about the matter, but nobody has ever got in touch with me since and I can only assume there has been no further disciplinary action.

Do I need prepare my vehicle in anyway before bringing it to a garage?
Where our team members will need entry to your vehicle please can you ensure it is clean inside with no items laying where our team may need to be, such as foot wells. This will minimise contact with surfaces, helping keep everyone safe.
