My recent experience at the Birmingham Airport location of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
I had booked a midsize SUV in advance. On arrival, the staff were initially very friendly and asked for my licence and credit card. I was then offered a “premium upgrade” at more than double the original booking price, which I politely declined. I also declined the extra damage cover as my credit card already includes rental coverage.
That’s when the atmosphere changed. I was told it would be around an hour before my booked vehicle was available. The employee I dealt with identified himself as the manager, and when I asked if someone else could assist, he proudly informed me that nobody else could help because he was the manager.
After the wait, the “midsize SUV” turned out to be a large Ford Tourneo. Slight difference.
When I asked if there was anything else available, I was told they were completely sold out and this was the only option. Luckily the booking wasn’t prepaid, so we rented elsewhere instead.
One final concern was that my credit card remained behind the counter for quite some time, which made me uncomfortable enough to request a replacement card from my bank afterwards.
Overall, a frustrating experience and completely not the friendly neighbourhood Enterprise experience I expected. It left me with very little confidence in the way this location operates.

Hired a car at Birmingham airport. The pickup and drop off was quick and effortless. Very pleased with the help from staff. Would definitely hire from here again.

I've rented a car from Enterprise at this location a good number of times now and the team are great - they're always helpful, friendly and I've found the process to be really smooth and efficient in comparison to other companies.
The team really sorted me out from a pickle with another company this week and whilst stressed out that the other provide couldn't cover I needed them to do and what I booked, the team here really helped me out with a car booked there and then for a work trip. Wouldn't go anywhere else now!
Had the pleasure of a courtesy car from enterprise , while my car was being repaired. Absolutely no problem until it came to returning the vehicle. The courtesy car was delivered to my home. I called them to let them know my own car was back from the garage and the courtesy car was ready for collection. I was told by a member of staff to bring it to Birmingham Airport. I asked how I would get home from there I was told I would get a lift or a taxi would take me home.
I arrived with the car ready to hand it over, the person I dealt with claimed “we don’t give lifts or pay for taxis, it’s not something we offer”.
I pointed out I was asked to bring it back ( a day early ) and I was told I would be taken home.
The person disappeared into the office and didn’t return. After waiting, I decided to drive the car back home and they could arrange to pick it up themselves.
As I started the engine the manager ordered me to step out of the vehicle and hand over the keys. I made her aware the car had not been handed back as I had the keys , no paper work had been signed so therefore I was within my rights to drive away. She ordered a member of staff to block the car in then four members of staff surrounded the vehicle and became rather abusive using extreme choice language “C word”.
I was told if I didn’t get out of the vehicle the police would be called. The police eventually came and after a lot of going backwards and forwards and claiming they were not taking sides ,said if I didn’t get out of the car I would be arrested.
I’ve since phoned my insurance company they’ve stated as far as they are aware the vehicle is at my home address waiting to be picked up by enterprise.
Never again…..
Before you tell me to contact you and somebody will get in touch , I already have and the whole episode was recorded.
