  No complaints, in and out and the cheapest petrol for miles around. A good place to stop off from the A1(M) for refill.

  I experienced a deeply concerning incident at the Tesco Hampton petrol station involving a completely incorrect and legally baseless refusal of sale. I attempted to purchase a single can of Red Bull for myself (I am 42), and staff aggressively refused, claiming it was for my son. My son is 16, was sitting in the car outside, and took no part in the transaction. Energy drinks are not covered by proxy‑sale legislation under the Licensing Act 2003, and Tesco’s own voluntary policy applies only to customers under 16. Despite this, staff misapplied both the law and Tesco policy, and their behaviour was rude, confrontational, and entirely unjustified. This raises serious concerns under: • Section 49 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (failure to exercise reasonable care and skill) • Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 (misleading and aggressive commercial practices) • Tesco’s own Code of Business Conduct Tesco Customer Care have since provided contradictory explanations and attempted to rely on GDPR in ways that are simply not accurate. GDPR does not prevent them from informing a customer of the outcome of a complaint — only from disclosing personal HR data. Customers deserve staff who understand the law, apply policy correctly, and treat people with basic respect.
