Disappointing experience and poor communication.
I have used Protyre Abingdon for over a year for MOTs, servicing and repairs, and until recently I had always been very happy with the service, particularly when dealing with Jason, the Branch Manager.
Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience over the last few weeks. After initially having my rear discs and pads replaced, I subsequently had an ABS warning issue which required a new ABS sensor and wheel bearing. I was happy with how quickly the branch fitted me in when I first called about the warning lights.
However, the communication around the subsequent repairs was extremely poor. I was initially told that replacing the ABS sensor alone was fine, only to be told when collecting the car that I shouldn't drive it for more than five minutes because the wheel bearing still needed replacing. I then booked the bearing replacement, but was not informed that another ABS sensor would be fitted and charged for it until I collected the car. I had specifically understood that this was only a possibility and had not authorised the additional sensor replacement.
This meant I spent £586 at Protyre in around ten days, which was particularly frustrating given that I felt I had not been properly informed about the work being carried out.
I subsequently made a formal complaint to Protyre Customer Relations. On 17 July I was told that my concerns were being investigated and that a manager would contact me "as soon as possible". I chased this again on 27 July and 3 August after hearing nothing, and I have still never received a call or any further response.
It is a real shame to be in this position. Protyre is very conveniently located for me, and as I live alone, taking my car to a garage further away makes things considerably more difficult - particularly arranging transport to and from the garage. I would have much preferred to resolve this directly and continue using a garage that is so convenient for me.
I am disappointed that it has reached the point of leaving a negative review. I would have much preferred to resolve this directly with Protyre, and I made every effort to do so. I have generally been happy with the branch previously and would have liked to remain a customer, but the lack of communication and follow-up has left me with very little confidence in using the branch again.

Shocking customer service. At my MOT I was advised to get new tyres fitted. The mechanic suggested I get these from BlackCircles because it would be cheaper, and I asked him to write down exactly which tyres to get. I ordered the tyres as advised but when the car went in for fitting I was told they were the wrong ones. I pointed out that I'd bought exactly what I was told to, but the mechanic clearly thought it was just me being stupid. BlackCircles were brilliant and agreed to swap the tyres, rebooking the fitting for this morning. However when I arrived for the fitting I was told they had cancelled it and Black Circles should have informed me. I've had to rebook the fitting with another garage. At no point did Protyre acknowledge their mistake with the tyres or apologise either for telling me the wrong tyres or for cancelling the fitting. I will not be using Protyre again.

Took my car for a service and MOT July 2025 - they left the oil cap off and let me drive away. Oil went everywhere.
Returned July 2026 to try rebuild the trust/relationship.
Told me my car had failed the MOT as there is oil everywhere! 🤯
Politely explained the situation that happened last year and asked if they could double check, only to be told to take my car and get out!
On getting home I check the GOV.UK MOT website and my car PASSED the MOT!? So why did they say it failed! They threatened to call the police on me for no reason!

DO NOT USE. They completed a service for me back in April. Since then, I had an oil leak which has stained our fairly new driveaway. They also broke my air filter. 3 months later, I am still waiting for them to fix this for me. We have also contacted their customer care department and have not heard back from them. They have not given me a refund or any compensation for their incompetence. Would NOT recommend and will not be returning.

I was directed to Protyre Abingdon by my fleet company Arval for a slow puncture.
On the first visit I found the Branch Manager to be unfriendly, miserable and completely unwilling to help. I was told to contact Arval, which I did.
Once Arval had obtained approval from Protyre Head Office, I was booked back in for Monday morning. On arrival the attitude was exactly the same. I was told point blank that my vehicle was not on the system and that Arval would have to supply the tyre - which Arval have confirmed is not the procedure.
No attempt was made to inspect the vehicle, check the system properly, or offer a solution. I was simply told again to call Arval. As I left, the sarcastic "have a nice day" was the final straw and I finally lost it giving him both barrels for which I apologise unreservedly.
I called Arval from the car park and they immediately redirected me to Merityre Abingdon. The difference was night and day. Merityre had the tyre in stock, the Manager was professional, courteous and genuinely helpful, and the fitters had it replaced in under 15 minutes. A perfect example of how it should be done.
My clear impression is that Protyre Abingdon does not want fleet work due to the admin / margin involved.
Unsurprisingly I shall not be returning to Protyre and would strongly recommend Merityre Abingdon instead especially if your in a fleet vehicle
