When returning the hire car was when the issues started. I returned my hire car to enterprise this morning, but was told that enterprise had been trying to contact me for days, as my car had been returned to them on the 16/09 at 4pm however this was categorically untrue. Enterprise called me on the 16/09 at 08:45 to ask me to return the car as they believed I had my repaired car back. This was not true, as I had not received any information from the company doing my repairs. I later received a call from enterprise at 3:57pm asking them to give them a call back. I called both them, and the garage doing my repairs to confirm that the repairs were complete and that the garage was to drop off my car at enterprise, to save me time and energy. (And I provided the person working in enterprise with the transcript on my voicemail showing this).
On the 17th September, I received an email from the repairs company with photos of my repaired car. However it was not made clear to me, either by enterprise or the repair garage, that my car was at enterprise and even if it was I wouldn’t have been able to collect it, as I work until 4:30pm and had a medical appointment between 5:00pm and 6:00pm.
On the 18th of September, at 2:30pm, I received a voicemail from Entetprise informing me that my repaired car was waiting for me at their Ber Street branch. This was the first time that I had been informed of this. Sadly, I do not finish work until 4pm on Fridays, and had an appointment at 4:30pm, that I had had booked in for over a month, and would have lost my money had I cancelled, due to having to cancel with less than 24 hour notice. I attempted to call them in the 30 minutes I had between work ending, and my appointment, however was unable to get through. I was finally able to talk to them after my appointment at 5:57pm where they informed me that my car was ready for collection and to bring back my hire car.
When returning my car on the 19th September, I was charged £603.69. £550 of this was the excess for “damage” to the hire car, which was purely cosmetic and either there when I got the car or caused by a third party. As I explained how the car had parking sensors that I hated so if I’d have scrapped it in anyway I would have known. I was also told that I was charged £53.69 for not returning the car on the 16th at 4pm despite enterprise not having my car at this point, nor enterprise informing me that they had my repaired car until 2:30pm the day before. I was then ignored by the only member of staff there that I would “have to take it up with my insurance”, despite me showing my phone records, including a voice mail message from the 18th in which the person calling from enterprise confirms that my repaired car was dropped off on the 17th not the 16th. I was also not informed that my insurance had stopped paying for my hire car until 18th.
Furthermore, when getting my personal affects out of the hire car and into my own cat, the VW rolled on top of me. This seems to have been from when the agent got in the car to check the interior, as they were the last person in the car. Despite the agent being in the car park when this was happening, he just left me to frantically run to the car to put the hand break back on, resulting in me damaging my foot.
Furthermore, whilst on the phone and visibly crying and shaking from the whole thing, he asked for the key to the hire car back.
I am currently writing an email to my insurance company to include all of the emails and transcripts from telephone calls showing this. It was a horrible experiance and I hope that I never have to use this company again.
