I had two new tyres installed here, but the wheels weren't balanced properly. It wasn't catastrophically bad, came out as a slight shake above 140kph on the German Autobahn. I took it to a German mechanic, and they told me the wheels weren't balanced right, one of the wheels didn't even have any weights at all. After they re-balanced both it was smooth as butter.
I struggle to understand why as wheel balancing is almost automatic with modern machines, they tell you where to put the weights and how many. Modern suspension technology and low British speed limits let you get away with a lot I suppose.
Edit: Standard cowboy business response seem to check. Instead of asking "What could have gone wrong in this instance and how can we learn from this as a business?" you deny responsibility and gaslight customers.

I would not recommend E K Tyres in Chepstow based on my experience.
I went in because I had a nail in one tyre and expected to replace just that tyre. I was told I actually needed three new tyres, which I accepted at the time without questioning. I was then advised that I also needed new brake pads and discs.
Wanting a second opinion, I took my car to my usual mechanic. He was genuinely surprised because the brake pads and discs had only recently been replaced and still have around 20,000 miles of life left in them.
This experience has left me feeling that unnecessary work may have been recommended. Personally, I felt uncomfortable and couldn’t help wondering whether assumptions were made because I’m a woman. Based on my experience, I would advise others to get a second opinion before agreeing to additional work.
