  We recently rented a vehicle at the Manchester Airport for 8 days and our experience was positive from beginning to end. The counter staff who processed the rental agreement were friendly and helpful. We requested a vehicle with gps and received it without extra charge. They got us on the road quickly and provided us with a contact number if there were any issues … which there wasn’t. The return process was also quick and the staff member, Amy, was lovely. To our surprise, we received a phone call a few days after our return to Canada from Enterprise asking about our experience and confirming we would receive our 200 pound deposit back in a few business days. We haven’t received it yet, but I have no doubt that we will. Our CAA travel agent recommended Enterprise and we would not hesitate to book with them again.

  I’ve used Enterprise for years and, unfortunately, my most recent experience highlighted some of the frustrations I’ve had with both their booking system and rewards programme. As a Gold Member, I’m entitled to two upgrades per year. I specifically booked what was shown as a Compact vehicle because I wanted to use one of my upgrades to move into a Compact Elite car for my wedding. Having a nicer vehicle for the occasion was important to me. However, when I arrived at the rental desk, I was told that I had actually booked an Economy vehicle and therefore wasn’t eligible for the upgrade I wanted. This was despite my booking showing as Compact on my phone. No matter how many times I explained this, I was repeatedly told that the booking was classified as Economy and that upgrading to Compact Elite wasn’t possible. What I don’t understand is why the vehicle categories shown to customers during booking don’t appear to match the categories used by staff when determining upgrade eligibility. If a car is displayed as Compact when booking, customers reasonably expect it to be treated as Compact throughout the process. The Enterprise Rewards programme is also disappointing in practice. While you can redeem points for “free” rental days, these can only be used with the more expensive “Pay Later” rates. You can’t combine them with the cheaper “Pay Now” rates, meaning that in some cases using reward days actually works out more expensive than simply booking the discounted prepaid option. That significantly reduces the value of earning and redeeming points. In the end, after all the confusion and inconvenience, I paid full price for the Compact Elite vehicle I wanted in the first place. I’ve generally had good experiences with Enterprise over the years, but this rental left me feeling that the booking categories and loyalty benefits lack transparency. If Enterprise wants customers to remain loyal to the brand, the upgrade process and rewards programme need to be much clearer and offer genuine value. I’d rate the experience 2/5 stars – decent vehicles and service generally, but the rewards programme and upgrade system were frustrating and failed when I actually wanted to use the benefits I’d earned.

  Picked up our car yesterday after a very long 2 flights to Manchester, Bus at terminal 2 was waiting at pickup point, the Driver was fantastic and helped to bring on and stow our suitcases, and did the same when we arrived at car rental village, many thanks to him Enterprise staff at the pickup desk were very courteous, not at all pushy and explained everything to us, many thanks to all, the lad in the Enterprise carpark, showed us around the car told us to take photos and check everything before we left and also gave us directions on how to exit to the motorway Honestly, you can't ask for better service than that from any company or person Many thanks to all, you made our day and relieved any stress we had after our long flights, we greatly appreciate You All, thankyou

  Desk agent scared my wife by stating that any scratch over 3" and Enterprise would take $5000 for damages, so she insisted on extra insurance we didn't need. When we paid the additional fee, he then said that we still had a deductible of $1750. At that point I said no. When returning, we told the agent at the return location and he said that essentially that wasn't true. Disgusting to upsell by lying and scaring people. After the rental we were called to see how happy we were, which was nice, and when I told the agent the story, he was surprised and agreed to refund most of the insurance charge. This was the right thing to do, but still surprising. Kudos to Enterprise for correcting a disservice.

  Absolute nightmare and would not recommend again. To clarify: I booked the rental car from Enterprise via booking.com and was only told less than 24 hours prior to pickup that the Manchester airport location does not accept deplaning customers. Given the timeframe I was unable to cancel and refund. As such booking.com and Enterprise put a note saying I could pick up from a city-centre location next to Manchester Picaddily as an alternative....sure However, this location shuts at 18:00, two hours before my train arrived into Manchester (the airport location is of course 24 hours, but for baffling reasons they wouldn't accept pick-up) As such I had to get another train ticket at my own expense....to go up earlier and pick-up the car, and wait around for four hours before my girlfriend could then arrive after work. I then discovered to great delight... that the Manchester Picaddilly rental location is only open for limited hours on Saturday and is shut on Sunday. Given our holiday was until Sunday, this would have ruined our plans. As such I then had to pay £65 extra AGAIN for the luxury of dropping off at the airport - the location I was supposed to pick-up from in the first place! The deplaning policy is madness. To add insult to injury, they have now contrived a "damage" which was not caused by us, to say the least I am extremely angry. For anyone asking, I can attach the photos they sent versus the ones we took of the car after we left it...they claim a missing handle and are trying to charge £100 for something NOT caused by us! Outrageous and terrible. Never use again.
