  Avoid the sandwich section here. I had a shocking experience on Sunday, 26 Jul 2026, around 4:12 PM. I politely asked a female staff member working by the fridge for a recommendation between two chicken sandwiches, and she literally shouted at me in a very aggressive, rude voice: "I don't know, try both and you will know!". This completely unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. Management needs to check the CCTV/shift logs for this time and retrain this staff member on basic customer service and respect.

  Terrible for queues and pay at pump. Says contactless option is available but staff confirmed you need a physical card. This is frustrating when you're at a pump where the only option is pay at pump.

  Pulling into Tesco Petrol Station is rather like arriving at Britain's most practical cathedral. There are no stained-glass windows or soaring choirs, just a congregation of hatchbacks silently praying that the card reader won't ask them to "See Cashier." The station sits beside Tesco Extra like an obedient younger sibling whose sole purpose in life is to enable you to spend another £80 before you've even remembered why you came. You arrive for "just twenty quid of unleaded" and somehow leave with dishwasher tablets, a watermelon the size of Kent, and three Meal Deals. The good news is that fuel prices have eased noticeably since the situation in the Strait of Hormuz became rather less alarming. As global oil markets have calmed and tanker traffic has recovered, the numbers on the forecourt have drifted gently downwards instead of climbing with the enthusiasm of a Wimbledon property developer. It is one of the few places where international geopolitics has translated into something almost resembling good news for your wallet. Dispensing fuel itself remains a deeply British experience. Everyone studies the display with forensic intensity, hoping the pump might accidentally stop on exactly £40.00. Instead, it invariably lands on £40.01, provoking the sort of disappointment normally reserved for England being knocked out on penalties. The forecourt choreography is magnificent. There is always one driver filling up as though they're waiting for the North Sea to replenish itself, another trying to remember which side their fuel cap is on, and someone who has mistaken the air pump for an opportunity to reorganise the entire contents of their boot. The attached shop is a triumph of impulse economics. You enter intending to pay for petrol and emerge clutching a steak bake, a litre of milk, six doughnuts and a cordless hedge trimmer that seemed like an excellent idea at the time. Overall, an efficient, well-run petrol station where the fuel flows, the queues generally move, and the prices have finally remembered that not every geopolitical incident has to be reflected at the pump for the next six months. Four stars only because the fuel nozzle still possesses the supernatural ability to splash precisely one drop of petrol onto your shoe, ensuring you smell faintly of Formula One until Thursday.
