    Seems like Sixt is showing a pattern of incompetence, if not outright dishonesty. I am facing the same issue as a previous poster on being egregiously charged for a congestion charge fine. I picked up the car from Bloomsbury on a Thursday afternoon. The invoice clearly showed I had already been charged for that day's congestion charge. The customer service officer also assured me that Sixt would pay the first day charge. Lo and behold, 2 days after my rental, I get charged GBP130 for unpaid congestion charge. Which, by the way, includes a GBP40 admin fee. Without any follow up or justification. I call up the hotline, and am told the fine had been registered as a traffic fine. Despite the TFL notice (which by the way was sent from Sixt), clearly stating at the top of the notice, in capital letters, Congestion Charge. It has now been 2 weeks since I disputed the charge. Apparently the traffic department is still reviewing. 2 days to charge a customer. 2 weeks and counting to correct an obvious error. VAR would be proud. To be balanced, I added a star for the car upgrade which was a pretty nice drive. Still, there are probably nicer ways to get scammed. Just my personal opinion.

    SCAMMED start to finish. We booked an SUV because we had significant luggage and would be driving rough roads. The agent told us she was giving us a "free upgrade" — but the car she offered was a small sedan with no fold-down rear seats, making it overloaded and dangerous. When I pushed back, she said it was the only car available and offered 10% off to compensate. We really had no choice. SCAMMED AGAIN - Instead of getting the promised discount, we were actually CHARGED EXTRA for the unwanted "upgrade" when we got the final invoice. After disputing it, the upgrade charge was eventually reimbursed, but the 10% discount was never honoured. Also, the London Bloomsbury branch is very hard to find - no signs anywhere. Sixt never sent instructions for getting to the office, leaving us hunting for it with many suitcases we had to drag down the ramp while dodging oncoming cars. I would avoid using SIXT and definitely NEVER use the Bloomsbury office.

    Just had a car rental pickup today. Instructions for the system were quite unclear about the 48 hour waiting period, so the guy at the car rental was unaware we were coming. Phone number given at the carpark entrance didn't work (It just hung up on me?!) so we called customer service, which left me on hold for 10+ minutes. Waited for 1 hour, but he was very friendly when he arrived and gave us a free upgrade for the delay! Overall, TERRIBLE system but EXCELLENT customer service from the guy at the counter.

    Took my booking, took my money for a van hire so I could move house then called last minute to cancel with no offer of an alternative. Super unreliable. Said I would have my money back within two hours, haven't received it.

    Without any prior communication, I was wrongfully charged £130 (£90 for the fine and a £40 admin fee) for a missing congestion fee payment, despite it already being included and paid for in my reservation. It took them 14 days and several ignored follow-ups emails and WhatsApp messages to finally acknowledge the issue. They refused to process this as a chargeback and want to do a standard refund, forcing me to absorb the currency exchange loss for a mistake entirely on their end. For years I’ve chosen this company over Avis/Hertz for its better coverage in Europe but from now on I’ll avoid it at all costs
