I visited Tesco Petrol Station on Sunday evening specifically to refuel my car for work the following day. I arrived at approximately 6:35pm, well within the advertised opening hours clearly displayed on the premises: Sunday 7am – 7pm. Despite these published times, the station was already closed. At least ten other vehicles were also turned away. When I asked a member of staff, a female colleague responded rudely and dismissively, simply telling me to “go away” as they were closed and that nothing could be done. This is unacceptable. Displaying opening hours and then closing early constitutes misleading commercial practice under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Customers rely on the stated hours in good faith; closing early without notice or explanation is false and unfair marketing that inconveniences people who have planned around the advertised times. I expect Tesco to ensure that published opening hours are strictly adhered to, that staff are properly trained in customer service, and that this does not happen again. I would appreciate confirmation that this matter has been investigated and that appropriate action has been taken.
