- AHAllan HarveySep 14, 20261.0Enterprise car hire is rubbish. Do not hire. I entered into a contract for a Luton van 0800 1/9 to 1800 2/9. I had hired it for 2 days as I couldn’t return it to them before close of play on 1/9. The cost was £198 for both days. I was contacted on Saturday 20/8 at 1345 (20 minutes before they close) to tell me that there was not a van available for 0800 1/9. It was time critical that I had the van at this time, but they left me no time to seek an alternative. I was told to see the manager on 1/9. The manager promised to give me one day hire free for their breach of contract and then told me that they could pick it up at 0900 on 2/9 so it would only be on hire 24 hours and that I would get a refund. A van had been returned and staff told me that they had checked it over and I could take it. I took it out only to find the offside wing mirror damaged and the indicator bulb was missing. I immediately returned it. The staff told me they were aware it had been involved in a collision by the previous hirer!! I have to date not received a refund so I made a complaint. They have still to contact me. So: 1. The vehicle was not available in the contracted hours. 2. The depot manager agreed to give me a day hire free and refund a day as I had only hired the vehicle for 24 hours rather than 48 that I had initially paid for. 3. The depot sent me out with an un roadworthy vehicle until I returned it and swapped it. 4. I have not been refunded. 5. I made a complaint and no one has spoken to me about it yet.
