    I had an awful experience trying to collect a prepaid car from this branch. Before I arrived, I received a phone call from a member of staff who said he needed to carry out a check using my address and date of birth and that if I failed the check there was “no point” travelling to the branch. After carrying out the check, he informed me that I had failed it. Initially, I understood this to mean that I would be unable to hire the car. However, when I specifically asked whether this meant I could not rent a car, I was then told that I could still hire the car, but only if the £200 deposit was placed on a credit card rather than a debit card. When I arrived at the branch asked what the check was for, I was given no meaningful explanation. I was told, “I’m not saying you look dodgy, but we don’t know who we’re hiring cars to.” I also found it uncomfortable being questioned about why I wanted to hire the car. The whole interaction left me feeling as though I was being treated with suspicion despite having a valid booking and having paid in advance. My issue is not with the deposit requirement itself. My issue is with the way the situation was handled and communicated. Being told I had “failed” a check, being told there was no point attending if I failed, and then later being told I could still hire the car was confusing and misleading. I didn’t feel comfortable hiring the car in the end so I specifically asked whether I could obtain a refund and was told that I could do so through the booking provider. However, when I immediately attempted to cancel, I was unable to do so because the pickup time had already passed. I now have to go through my bank to be reimbursed. Overall, I found the customer service poor and the experience unnecessarily stressful.

    Didn't have a van available after booking several days in advance for a house move. Office folk very polite and understanding, processed refund but unnecessary stress.

    Not sure what happened but the inside of the car was filthy with hair balls in a cup holder and stinky sweet wrappers in the glove box. Not impressed at all. I should have rejected the car but needed it for a work trip..

    They charged me £25 fuel for driving a total of 9 miles. I questioned that and after checking, they agreed it was wrong. They promised to refund the £25 to my payment card. They never issued the refund. Do not trust what they say.
