The staff were very friendly and helpful, but I would recommend carefully inspecting the tires before driving off. I normally don't examine tires in great detail when picking up a rental car. However, when I returned the vehicle, the lady identified a very small thin scratch on one of the tires, approximately 1 cm long and 1 mm deep. Since I had not inspected the tire that closely at pickup, I cannot be sure whether the damage was already there or occured during my rental. I was charged 200 GBP for it, which I found surprisingly high given the minor nature of the scratch.
Booking and pick up were fairly straightforward. Liked the car I got and had no issues with it. However, at drop off, I was told about a damage to the tyres (rented for under 24 hrs and the drive both ways were as smooth as can be). £100 of my deposit was deducted for that (as I got the extra insurance, with a promise of a refund if it costs less to repair the damage). This made me feel ripped off and soiled what would have otherwise been a great rental experience. Didn’t take videos of the car before driving off, so I had no way of telling if it was a new or old damage as they were pretty sure they couldn’t have missed it on inspection!

Prathi, Niah, and Phil were absolutely phenomenal at Edinburgh Airport. They went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of from start to finish. They took the time to thoroughly explain every aspect of the vehicle, the protection options, and all the details we needed to feel confident and informed.
What was especially remarkable was their willingness to help when we realized we had made a mistake and were supposed to collect our vehicle from a different location. Despite the inconvenience, they handled the situation with professionalism, kindness, and efficiency, providing us with a vehicle without any hassle.
Their exceptional customer service turned what could have been a very stressful experience into a seamless one. Without the help of these three wonderful individuals, I truly don’t know what we would have done. They are an outstanding team and a credit to their organization. Thank you, Prathi, Niah, and Phil, for your dedication, generosity, and exemplary service.
We were two couples witth a big load of luggage for a three-week driving tour of the NC500. It turned out that the car we initially selected had nowhere near the "boot" space for our bags. The lot crew took us from model to model until we found one that suited our needs. And gave us a Skoda Kodak for the same price a the original selection. Abbi in particualar helped us by loading and reloading repeatedly to make sure it all fit safely. Upon return, the lot crew helped out once again by looking after our bags while we flagged down our cab to take us to our Edinborough hotal in Old Town. The Skoda ( a brand I had never heard of) performed ably throughout the rough and narrow roads of the whole Highlands. Narrow enough for the frequent and infamous Single Track Roads, nimble enough to handle to daily rain driving with ease, and powerful enough ot get up the many mountains across the north coast very ably, carrying four adults and lots of luggage. The only thing I would ask for is a one-page handout on how to actully operate that unfamiliar vehicle, nmely, how to get it into gear. I would use this Enterprise location again, 10out of ten, no notes.
**DECEITFUL BUSINESS PRACTICES** Upon our arrival in Edinburgh, after an overnight flight with little to no sleep, we approached the rental counter to retrieve our pre-booked vehicle. At first the customer service agent, Reid, seemed courteous and helpful, but that facade quickly fell as our interaction continued. He began to detail additional charges not previously indicated on our original booking. The 20% VAT was unexpected but understandable. Then there was the "premium location fee" for renting a car from the airport car park. Had we known this prior to booking, we'd have looked elsewhere. Then came the muddled dance of trying to sell us additional protections for our rental. Reid asked if we had insurance through our credit card, which I did not know for certain. He asked no follow up questions about the type of card we have, and proceeded to say that if we didn't accept the damage waiver protection from Enterprise, he, quote, "wouldn't write us a contract without it". I took this to mean the coverage was mandatory. I've since learned that my credit card indeed did cover us and we did not need Enterprise's damage waiver. Reid also swindled us into glass and wheel coverage after learning it was our first time driving in the UK and claimed the roads up north were "very bad". When we walked to our vehicle, I stopped at the service stand to ask about the GPS device I had paid for during booking. I was told the car was already equipped with GPS. The website lead me to believe it was a seperate device and not all cars were equipped with it. Our rental vehicle ended up being a 2025 Mazda. All cars manufactured in the last ten years have built in GPS. So why was I paying extra for a feature that my vehicle was guaranteed to have regardless? We left the rental lot with a bitter taste in our mouths, which was only amplified when we received the itemized rental agreement later that day. Apparently the damage waiver that your agent "wouldn't write us a contract without" was optional, not required. At this point, the rental car had cost us more than twice the original quote amount. Then somehow it got worse; We were side-swiped on our front bumper in a parking lot somewhere between Skye and Oban, with no driver information left. Upon returning the vehicle to the rental lot, we understood that the cost of repair fell on us despite the fault lying elsewhere. When I checked my credit card statement, suddenly a $4,500 charge was sitting next to the Alamo name on the line. What was the purpose of the damage waiver coverage we were tricked into accepting if we are still charged thousands of dollars for a scraped bumper? The entire experience was predatory and seemed to target unwitting foreigners fresh off international flights by means of bullying and scare tactics. Our $900USD rental turned into a $4,500USD nightmare. We had budgeted everything for our first vacation in almost four years, only to incur an enormous unexpected sum because we were scammed by our rental car company. Enterprise is an exploitative conglomerate that intentionally deceives customers in order to squeeze more money from people just trying to enjoy their hard earned vacations. I will never use Enterprise again, and will advise everyone I know to choose any other rental car company.
