We collected our car in the middle of a chaotic security closure of the airport. The Alamo staff went above & beyond, waiting over 3 hours until we arrived at 1:30am. It should be noted that, other than the other Enterprise group companies, all the alternate car hire desks were closed. No issues with any other part of the hire and we will definitely use them again.

Really disappointing experience. We were held responsible for damage to a tyre that we believe was already present when we collected the vehicle. Unfortunately, we only noticed it after leaving the airport. We had taken a photo at collection and, although it is blurry, it appears to show damage to the wheel in the exact same area. Unfortunately, the tyre itself is not clearly visible in the picture, so we cannot prove when the cut occurred. However, it does raise questions about the condition of the vehicle when it was handed over to us. What made us completely lose confidence was that this was not the only issue. According to the rental documentation, the fuel tank was full, but in reality it was only around half full. Fortunately, we noticed this immediately and reported it straight away. Perhaps either of these issues on its own could be put down to a simple mistake. But when you collect a vehicle and encounter multiple problems from the very beginning, it becomes difficult to have confidence in the inspection process before handover. Fortunately, we have separate insurance (not the extra insurance they try to sell you when you collect the car) that will likely cover the damage, so this is not really about the money. It is about the principle, the time wasted dealing with the dispute, and the frustration of being held responsible for damage that we do not believe we caused. Take photos and videos of absolutely everything before leaving the car park, including all tyres, wheels and the fuel gauge. We certainly will not make the same mistake again. We rent cars regularly when travelling, but this was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a rental company. As far as we are concerned, we will never rent from this location again and cannot recommend it to other travellers.

The hospitable nature of the people working at the Alamo/Enterprise rental complex was refreshing. We had to upgrade to a larger vehicle since our party of 5 had large suitcases for our 2 week stay which required a lot of room. The agents took care of it quickly. Mind you, prices for everything in the UK are expensive, and this passenger van rental reflects that economy. So do your homework first when deciding on car rentals. Check for hidden fees as well when booking. The American based companies, like Alamo, Enterprise etc, are pretty straight forward with their pricing.

The staff was courteous and helpful. However, the fine details that the website doesn't tell you as a tourist is what sucks! For instance, when booking the car you buy insurance, BUT you get up to the counter, the agent said that's secondary insurance, not the actual insurance you could buy just to cover you. The car, a Mazda 3, was not what I wanted and ordered but that's all they had. I asked if they could call another station at my destination I was staying at to get the model I wanted and ordered and was turned down. Then the hassle with security deposit was 200 quid. Why not let me pay online also when I am doing the booking? What was even worse was the lassie that was helping us was saying it had to be a credit card, not my own personal bank credit union card. She had to get clearance from her supervisor to get the approval. Plus, the added extras that the lassie said we could get with purchasing, that all could have been done online, AND, should be added online. It's bad business to not offer all details and extras as a 5 o'clock surprise when you pick up the vehicle. I've been a retail manager for 30 years and you simply don't do this! Returning the car, was a breeze, no complaints. Lastly, don't ever get the Mazda 3 unless you drive Mazda's. The car would not shut up and distracts you WHILE DRIVING! I get Scotland has varying speed limits on the motorways. But it distracts the drivers with too many lights and sounds. Get the old fleet back with cars with keys and gear shifter on the steering column! It was too compact for a football player sized man. So in a nutshell, staff both picking up and returning car was great, 5 stars! The fine printed details before you reserve the car, 1 star, buyer beware! Expect surprises at the counter!

To be honest, I was apprehensive renting with Alamo. I normally don't rent with a place if it's less than 4 stars. I strictly went on price this time around. I also have Enterprise status. Weird... Walking in, I noticed the long line but it's for Alamo, Enterprise & National. I also noticed a QR code so you can pre-register your personal information. I took advantage of that while waiting. By the time, I got to Ritchie, I was already done with that. Ritchie was awesome by the way. He didn't push any extras on me, although I specifically wanted the Roadside Assistance package. Ritchie signed me up for that. He made sure I understood everything and also ensured I found the vehicle. There was a bit of a mixup when locating the vehicle. There was an Audi SUV in its place. Staff was able to find the Peugot quickly. I also want to give a shout out to Ritchie for his assistance.
