- LBLorraine BateJul 27, 20261.0You changed two front and one rear tyre - with toe alignment to the left front wheel - total costing £346.45 on the 10/06/2026. We departed for Spain on 12 June. On 15 June, whilst driving on the motorway, we heard a rattling noise coming from the left hand side of the vehicle. As a precaution, we began pulling over towards the next service station. As we exited the motorway via the slip road at approximately 60 mph, the front left wheel detached from the vehicle. We were forced to contact the RAC, who came out and fitted the spare wheel and escorted us to a local garage. This service cost €110.00. The garage subsequently recovered the detached wheel from the motorway and refitted it by taking a wheel nut from each of the other wheels, as obviously the ones on the detached wheel had flown off The cost of this repair was €40.00, allowing us to continue our journey to Spain. Once in Spain, we instructed another garage to carry out a full inspection of the wheel assembly, fit a complete set of new wheel nuts, and check that everything was secure. This work cost a further €88.00. We have spoken with the Pokesdown Branch Manager on two occasions regarding this serious incident and were assured that he would contact us, once he had spoken to his Area Manager, we have yet to receive any response. During one conversation, he suggested that someone may have tampered with the wheel nuts. We find this explanation wholly implausible and do not consider it to be a credible explanation for what occurred. Given the seriousness of this incident, which could easily have resulted in a catastrophic accident, we would appreciate your comments on the matter and ask that you investigate this issue as a matter of urgency. We also request reimbursement of the costs we incurred as a direct result of this incident, totalling €238.00. We look forward to your prompt response.
