- JEJames Everett4 days ago1.0⚠️ Serious safety concern following work at ProTyre New Mills I had an outer track rod replaced by ProTyre New Mills after it was damaged in September 2025. A few months later, the car developed a worsening knocking noise and the alignment was noticeably deteriorating. I returned to ProTyre, specifically reported the knocking noise and was told it would be looked at. Unfortunately, the issue wasn’t investigated. I subsequently took the car to another garage, where I was informed that the outer track rod/steering connection had been left completely loose and was slipping. I was told it was becoming progressively more loose, presenting a potentially serious safety risk. I drive significant mileage on motorways, so the thought of a steering component potentially failing at speed is extremely concerning. I have contacted ProTyre to ask for an explanation as to how this happened and why the issue wasn’t investigated when I specifically reported the knocking noise. I would strongly recommend anyone having safety-critical steering or suspension work carried out to have the work independently checked.

Called in at the selected time and the work was carried out promptly and successfully. Great service and fully recommended.

Lots of improvements to the waiting area since I last visited which was really nice-though they are extremely efficient, so not a long wait at all!

To help keep us all safe we do ask that while visiting our garage you remember to wear a face covering (unless exempt in line with Government guidelines) when entering our reception areas and when speaking with members of our in other areas of the garage.

Where our team members will need entry to your vehicle please can you ensure it is clean inside with no items laying where our team may need to be, such as foot wells. This will minimise contact with surfaces, helping keep everyone safe.

Yes, we are open and operating as usual, providing safe vehicle servicing and tyre fitting at our garage.
