  We hired a vehicle that was given to us in a dangerous condition. Both front tyres were dangerous as they had very low tread and also had chords exposed. There was no washer fluid in the vehicle and there was also some lights not working. We ended up breaking down due to a tyre exploding. We were stranded for hours in the middle of nowhere in Tuscany. Had it not been for a local person we would still be there. We tried calling for a recovery to the number supplied by Green motion but kept being cut off. We weee then recovered and had to pay over 200 euro to have both dangerous tyres replaced. Bearing in mind we were two girls travelling alone. Had this tyre exploded on the motorway I dread to think what would happen happened. Green motion Italy said we would be refunded for the cost of the replacement but they are ignoring all my call and emails and I am still waiting. This is unacceptable and would never use green motion again. I have now contacted my credit card company to try and get some of my money back from the car hire. Totally unacceptable . Terrible customer service.

  NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Three people were refused their car rental in the 20 minutes I was at the car collection office. They refused the rentals because two did not own a credit card but were willing to pay the deposit in funds and also use their debit card. They were refused the car unless they paid a ridiculous daily amount of extra insurance of an extra £35 per day. My credit card was in date for 6+ weeks after I would have been returning the car, but their policy states it must be 8 weeks in date. Very dismissive and upbeat about a very difficult situation after spending £20 to get a taxi to Theo collection point to then catch the shuttle back to find another car hire company with available cars. The cheaper quote is NOT worth going through greenmotion. Avis were amazing, reasonable price and fantastic service. Never book greenmotion. The car yard also looked dodgy, cars covered in dust. Read the reviews before you book!

  Be careful with the deposit and insurance I had already purchased full excess insurance through the booking agent. Before collecting the car, Green Motion confirmed in writing that the required deposit would be £1,700, so I made sure my credit card had sufficient available credit. At pickup, I was told the deposit had increased to £2,500, which exceeded my available credit. I was then given the choice of leaving without the car or purchasing Green Motion’s insurance for £364, which reduced the deposit requirement. As I had already paid for comprehensive excess insurance, I would not have purchased this additional insurance had the originally confirmed deposit been honoured. I recommend carefully checking the deposit and insurance requirements before booking with Green Motion Gatwick.

  Le 23 Septembre dernier, j'ai été forcé de payer 768 euros parce que la carte de crédit n'était pas valide, ce qui est faux . J'ai été victime d'une vraie arnaque à l'aéroport d'Edmbourg. Loueur abominable. Michel Moulin Lyon

  Booked U-Save/Green Motion in Podgorica because they were cheaper — should have known better. Waited over an hour in line just to collect the car. Once on the road: a seat not properly attached to its rails, shifting on every turn, and a side mirror that would come loose on windy mountain roads. Genuinely unsafe for the full 10 days. All that for €59 a day, for a rusty, beat-up old car that shouldn't have been on the road. Oh well, you might think, if they give you another car, your experience might turn out to be better than mine. Don't be so sure. Because you may also need to contact the after-sales service for any other reason. In my case after 6 emails back and forth, Green Motion dismissed every point I raised about the safety of the car. Their only argument: I didn't asked to swap cars midtrip — as if losing a day of a pre-paid holiday in the mountains to fix their issue was ever a reasonable ask. Other people I met when I returened the car were given a car with no break fluid and no engine oil. Great, especially in the mountains. No apology, no acknowledgement, no gesture, nothing to show good faith. Cheap upfront, costly in every other way. AVOID.
