- LWLawrence WardSep 23, 20225.0Had a rumble/vibration in the trans that I guessed was probably a countershaft bearing going out (no clue why, with 1M miles on it, lol). Called the guys at ETR up and then pulled the box out and took it down on Weds morning. JJ jumped right on it, tearing it down. Yep, front lower countershaft bearing was shot. JJ proceeded to go thru the whole thing, explaining what he was doing as he was going along. He went and updated everything inside and out to the current style gears, slaves, etc. End result a completely reman box for less than you can "buy" one for on ebay or elsewhere online, with more parts changed/updated than the online boxes will get you. Oh, and cheaper than the online ones also. End result the trans feels and shifts like a brand new unit. (They also have a good handfull of exchange boxes in stock also). Been in this game since the 80s and Ive seen my share of so-so/fly by night shops, and this aint one of them!! Highly recommend these guys. If you need good work done at a more than fair price you're gonna be hard pressed to beat the guys at ETR!
