- JJJesse JacobsonSep 20, 20251.0My wife’s van battery wouldnt start this morning. I tested it at home and showed bad battery, but the alternator tested fine. Came here for a battery replacement/test. The worker there insisted the alternator was also bad and would need to go somewhere else. I went down the road to Mavis and they also tested and said the alternator was fine. I suspect (can’t prove) that the worker lied and simply didn’t want to have to do a battery change and wanted to get rid of me, because two other tests show it was fine. Mavis gets the 5 stars.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
