- RBRich BennettMar 15, 20161.0I'm less than two years into a 3 year replacement warranty on a battery for my truck and they will not replace the battery with a dead cell because I can't tell them from which store I purchased the battery. Apparently the stores don't share that particular database.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
