- NCNathan CovingtonApr 9, 20261.0Went in for a slight noise when braking. The mechanic didn't drive the car before putting it on a lift. He then came and told me that the pads were 3 mm in the front and 6mm in the rear and that the fronts needed to be changed. My pads I changed a year ago, and I told him this. He asked if I wanted the brake work, and I said no. I went home and inspected my brakes myself. The brakes all around were 6 mm, as you can see in the attached photo. 6 mm is plenty of life left. The noise I heard was likely a rock that was temporarily stuck, as the noise hasn't returned. Total scam.
