- DWDavid WOct 13, 20251.0Buyer beware. Inserted debit card into pump (a card which worked seamlessly the day before traveling on I-75 northbound), entered pin, and told to see cashier. Tried it again as credit - same message. Went in the store and the inconvenienced (no pun intended) cashier was irritated because she was talking up the Loomis guy. Told her what happened and she said dismissively. that I had to prepay. What amount? Don't know because I have to fill up and gas is cheaper there than in Florida. Walked out and as I was walking across the parking lot, I got an alert from Capital One that Pilot had charged my debit card (yes the one that didn't work at the pump) $126. I went back in the store and the cashier knew even less. Manager said it is a hold and he gave me the number to call off the top of his head like it is a regular thing. Meanwhile, Cap One Fraud Department cancelled my card and I spent another 20 minutes on the phone in the parking lot sorting it all out. Blocking the charge and reactivating my card.
