  Super sad experience here, we arrived a little after 9:00 p.m. to pick up our reservation and we're told that the rental counter was closed due to the company not having any rental cars available. I was told to come back the next day and they couldn't guarantee that there would be cars available at that time. My wife and three kids had no other option but to schedule an Uber and a overnight hotel room we were not counting on and were able to pick up a car the next morning to start our drive to Tennessee. No discounts no apologies. What's the point reserving a car if they're not willing to honor the deal?

  So far out of all my past car rental experiences, the most positive has been Alamo. I also like the autonomy that the car return service people have. There was once a time when I left the lot with a car that was not quite full, so I kept record (times and pics). I thought it was going to be a hassle, but the return worker was able to compensate me for the gas by adjusting my final bill. Since that positive outcome Alamo has been my go to for car rentals when I travel.

  We've been loyal and until recently, very satisfied Alamo customers for many years, but on December 24th (around 3:40 PM), after a long flight from Frankfurt, we landed in Atlanta and arrived at the ALAMO ATL rental counter. We were really looking forward to our rental car from Alamo at the Atlanta airport rental station. At the counter, we presented our "Drive Happy Deal" reservation, including the Gold Package for 10 days, which we had booked through our company rate. The "Drive Happy Deal" guarantees a car in the compact class or a higher class, whatever is available at pickup. So everything was absolut clearly booked and reserved with a FINAL price. A rather unfriendly man (an elderly African-American man with gray hair), whose name I unfortunately didn't get, approached and served us. And that's when the nightmare began. First, he told us that only a car in the smallest MINI class was available for our reservation and that we would have to pay an extra $50 per day. After some very frustrating back-and-forth talks, he said the price was flexible and we could negotiate, and suddenly we would only have to pay an extra $25 per day. We felt like we were in an oriental bazaar, not at ALAMO. He tried every trick in the book to confuse us and charge us completely unjustified extra fees. In the end, we demanded our passports and credit cards back and left very angry and disappointed. I told him we wouldn't be cheated and that, unfortunately, we will not use this reservation anymore, due to his scamming attempts. Since I have special rates through my corporate contract, I can make a new reservation at any time. And that's exactly what happened. About 30 minutes later, we returned with a new reservation; the older man who had served us before was no longer there. I wonder why???. Another colleague checked us in, and everything was then as we were used to. ALAMO should urgently address this employee and stop this behavior immediately. Otherwise, it's fraud. Incidentally, there were plenty of cars available, and everything this man initially tried to tell us was completely untrue. We saw it all for ourselves at the end and were able to choose a car, just like always with NO ridiculous extra charges and so on. BE CARFUL, WATCH OUT AND DON´T GET SCAMMED!!!

  Overall I had a good experience with my rental car. (I am a newbie at car rentals.) I found the shuttle easy to use from the airport, however it is further and therefore a longer drive than I expected. Once in the lot to claim a car, I had a choice of several but some had issues or dents. It wasn't clear to me how the dents were registered and if I could be penalized for them upon return. I picked one without too many flaws and after driving off realized it smelled badly of weed. After driving for 3 hours to Asheville, I couldn't take it any more. I called the support line and some guy in Indian was very helpful and able to inform me that I could make a swap and there was stock available at the Asheville airport. The swap was easy enough and I got a brand new car in an upgraded class - winning! After that it was smooth sailing and I really enjoyed the car for the rest of the time. When returning the car there was an issue closing out my rental and the agent wasn't able to do it while I was there. I had to trust that he would deal with it later. Which he did, and there were no issues.

  Car was great, customer service upon return was horrible. I left my personal car and house keys in the arm rest of the rental before I returned it. I went back no more than 20 minutes after I returned it to let them know. The worker talked to someone on a walkie and told me they were bringing up the keys. No one came. An hour passed and no one came. Then they said they were probably turned into Lost and Found which was closed at the time so I had to return in the morning. I came back the next morning and Lost and Found didn’t have my keys. I was locked out of my apartment for 2 days. All someone had to do was prioritize the fact that a customer who had returned their little rental car not EVEN 20 minutes beforehand needed their keys. Stop what you’re doing, ensure someone lays eyes on the keys, and return the keys. Now I have to pay a couple hundred dollars to replace my keys when this was completely avoidable. Alamo lost my keys.
