- JEJason EddingtonFeb 18, 20261.0I’ve rented from Alamo many times over the years, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I reserved a full-size luxury SUV weeks in advance and even called a few days before pickup to confirm availability. When I arrived, I was told no such vehicle was available and was directed to choose from smaller options that would not meet my needs. After going back and forth, they “found” the correct vehicle because the key had supposedly been misplaced. A $400 deposit was then added without prior disclosure. Because of confusion at the counter, both my debit and credit cards were charged, temporarily tying up nearly $2,000 for what should have been a $580 rental. The refund on the debit card did not process until the day I returned the vehicle, creating unnecessary financial strain during my trip. To make matters worse, the customer service agent was rude and dismissive throughout the process, and the vehicle interior was dirty with empty washer fluid. This was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve had. Based on this experience, I would hesitate to rent from Alamo again.
